Prompt 1-Describe the world you came from - for example, your family, community or school - and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirtations.

I often wonder what life would have been like if I were not adopted. Sometimes I imagine better, and other times I cannot imagine what life would have been like at all. Eighteen months is how young I was when I was adopted. My birth mother was a prostitute in the state of Arizona and my father was not a part of her life. My adoptive parents would be a couple from California with already four kids, two of which were also adopted. I was the last member to be added to the family, and the youngest.

Life growing up was normal. Although the video's of a talking puppet whom humans adopted was weird, it helped me understand what adoption meant. When I was six, my family moved from Orange County to San Diego for my dad's job. I was entering Kindergarten that year and it was quite comforting to know the little girl across the street, who happened to become my best friend, was in the same grade and attended the same school. Growing up there were times where I wished I was not adopted and took being loved and adopted for granted. My family really has made me who I am today and help me realize what I want to be in the future, which is the chef/owner of my own restaurant. And to help families that are struggling financially by teaching them how to cook and run a restaurant; offer them jobs in my restaurant as well.

Being adopted I have learned it is not about the family you came from, but the family you were born into. And if it were not for being adopted by the Cline family, I am not sure where I would be, what life would have been like, and what my future would look like. Being adopted is nothing to be ashamed about, I am proud of it, I love sharing my story, and helping others understand what it is like to be adopted. Life is what I am making it to be, and that's fulfilling!
