Prompt: What do you make, how do you make it, and why do you make? Ultimately, where do you visualize your creative abilities and academic study to take you after your education here at Parsons?
Art is where I can isolate myself from society and become an individual, someone who expresses themselves uniquely. What do I make? I make pieces I like that will help me understand what kind of person I am. My likes and methods make me the different artist that everyone is. My pieces resemble who I am even if its portraits, landscapes, and photos. How do I make it? I believe anything can inspire anyone so when something inspires me I put it on paper. I try to learn and use different methods of art. If one day I paint in acrylic the next I will try oil painting. If one day I sketch the next day I will use charcoal. Not only that but they're many tools and techniques one can use to make art and I use all the techniques I know to improve my art. Why do I make it? It is my way of dealing with myself and my emotions. Art is a passion that I was born with and something I would not want to forget. It is a place where I can just let my imagination run wild with no negativity and judgment. A place where the world and society cannot touch me because I own it. However, fashion is where I truly am in place with. Fashion to me is art, where in art I would paint in acrylic, in fashion I would style classy. Where in art I would use oil the next day, in fashion I would experiment with edgy. Fashion all ties in with my artistic side it is what I make, how I make it, and why I make it. At Parsons I would be able to increase my knowledge and become a better artist. I visualize myself being able to inspire people through my creative abilities and education if its being a stylist or a clothing designer. I have always loved being able to experiment with clothing and give out inspirations and ideas to family and friends. Finding pieces of clothing or mixing up patterns is something that draws my attention heavenly. Maybe it is my artistic side showing but I know its something I have to follow. Therefore, not only would I be able to inspire other people but most importantly I would inspire myself. Parsons is the place where I know I will be able to grow stronger and interact with my artistic side better than anywhere else.
