Hi, I need help with this essay for FIT, English is not my first language, I would like to hear suggestions, how can I make it perfect? Thank you so much!
Prompt: What makes you a perfect candidate for FIT? Why are you interested in the major you are applying to? We'd like you to tell us in an essay. This is your chance to tell us more about your experiences, activities and accomplishments. (No more than 750 words, please.)
I've always loved art. At first I thought it was just an optional thing or a hobby and since I'm good for science, I started planning my future thinking that biology or chemical engineer were the best options for me. But then I realized that art and design are a life style and that's exactly what I want to do. I have the option of mix science, technology and design to create amazing stuff. Rhizome exhibits at the New Museum are part of my inspiration. When I was a kid I used to spend days and nights surrounded by hundreds of markers, pencils and papers of different colors, drawing, coloring, cutting, creating new worlds. My favorite books were the art, coloring and crafting ones. I could spend my whole day just reading, drawing and creating. I have lots of sketch books with thousands of ideas; I used to draw and make the clothes and accessories that I would to use to make sure I was the only one wearing it. I always wanted to be different, and I was seen as that different girl at school, from my hair to my shoes, I used to create a totally different outfit every day. Then I got obsessed with posters and cards, I used to create beautiful cards for my family and friends, posters and decorations for my room. I used to compose everything, from the page layout to the typography. When I got my first computer, I fell in love with the endless possibilities and start creating random stuff; I learned about every creative program I could find by myself. I used to make my own "web pages" composing with images, typography and links to go from one page to the other. I started making small animations and got interested in programming language, I learned basic HTML and C++. Then I got addicted to cameras and photography, I learned how to edit images and how to use the best applications for design. In a small review I learned from Photoshop (and every adobe suite program) to Cinema 4d, processing and AutoCAD.
I have been taking some design classes to start making a portfolio, but I really need a great education to give me the strength I need for success. I have read every curriculum for communication design but FIT is the only that offers what I really need to learn. I would be glad of be part of one of the biggest fashion, art and design institution of the world.
