When we are children the world we face is just a fantasy and as we grow up we find what reality really is, but as for some children their fantasy doesn't last that long. I was born in Mexico, it wasn't the best place to live but it was full of love, at least by my family. School there isn't the same as it is here. It wasn't taken seriously like it should. Many children would get as far as the sixth grade and then once they got out they would start working, helping out their parents to pay the bills of the house. Taking a look at all of this made me realize that I wanted a better future for myself, without always struggling financially, as many people in Mexico do.

My dad who is a hard worker brought my family and me to the United States for a better living, and that's when everything started changing. I learned English at my pace and with the enthusiasm of some teachers learning was a new experience. High school wasn't easy at all, especially junior year which was full of homework every night, but that didn't make me give up. My mom always working so hard to give us the materials we needed made me feel that I had to work hard enough in school to make her feel proud of me, and that the effort she puts in to let us have the live she never had wasn't just going to waste.

Life is complicated, but when you have someone to comfort you and tell you it's going to be all right, it's different. Life changes when you have someone that believes you could accomplish the impossible, like my grandpa has done all my high school years, and even though he may not always see me he believes in me. These are the kind of details a person needs in their life to become successful. Not just that, but the desire from the teachers that they put in their job makes the student strive forward without looking back. And not to mention the inspiration received from a sibling, cousin, uncle, or aunt of wanting to achieve as they have done so in life makes me stronger and not wanting to fail, because life is given for us to achieve and create something new out of it and not to abandon our dreams.

There are difficult times, like now that we are in a recession and many people are left without jobs. Such obstacles shouldn't let us from striving forward. There are always ways around in which we could find the way out; we just need to look for it. It's hard, but by trying you don't lose anything. I learned this when my grandpa got cancer, he was scared to go and get his analysis done because he felt it would be this, and when he did he was right. For everyone it was disheartened but for him it was like a new beginning. He has fought it and still continues. This had showed me many values in life and that by fighting we could accomplish anything we admire.
