This is what I have so far... I want to make sure I start off strong and that's where i'm lacking at...
My passion for science came from when I was diagnosed with Scoliosis in the seventh grade. My personal experiences with being a patient and knowing firsthand the relationship and trust I built with my doctor, planted the desire I have in medicine. That desire intensified in high school when I set my educational goals by going to Western Michigan University (WMU) and study Pre- Nursing. My goals was derailed when my grandmother passed away my first semester in college. Even though I returned to WMU for another year I began to question my desire to go into the medical field.
Once my grandmother passed away I thought being close to my family would help put me on the right path as far as school. However, during my tenure at Marygrove College I changed my major from Biology to Psychology. I was having a hard time trying to balance academia, school activities and working. I was able to acknowledge that I was putting my school activities and work before my education. I got so far behind, that I thought there was no way to bring my grades up. Medicine has never been absent from my thoughts. As a psychology major, I'm still looking for a personal fulfillment. In that moment, my desire to become a Physician Assistant (PA) was amplified, and I decided to take course in psychology that I can use in the field of PA. Furthermore, I acquire great pleasure in people and their diversity, and by combining my love of science with the interpersonal rewards gained from interacting with them, I continue to strive to fulfill this ambition.
