DUKE - Why? If I became a Blue Devil... My love for photojournalism

I would love feedback to ascertain whether I've answered the question coherently, directly, and well. The prompt is-

If you are applying to the Trinity College of Arts and Sciences as a first year applicant, please discuss why you consider Duke a good match for you. Is there something particular about Duke that attracts you? [150 MAX]

If I became a Blue Devil, I would construct my own proofs on vector analysis in 'Advanced Calculus I' from Professor Lenhard Ng, whose research on sympleptic geometry fascinates me. I would strive to take the Duke Putnam team to greater heights, attend lectures on Topology, and write a research project on the Geometry of Partial Differential Equations under Professor Robert Bryant through the PRUV Fellowship Program.

I will further my research on Game Theory by interacting with Professor Dan Ariely, whose book Predictably Irrational I devoured, and apply mathematical tools to economic theory in 'Game Theory with Application of Economics'. I will continue working on my projects on 'The Economics of Tourism' through the URS Independent Study Grants, and write my Honors Thesis on economic growth under Professor Charles Becker.

I will pursue my love for photojournalism by clicking photographs for The Chronicle and document each passing year for Chanticleer.

The first impression that I had after reading your essay was that you there were lots of things that you listed, but nothing was deep enough.

Since the maximum number of words was only 150, I would recommend choosing only one or two topics, tops, and provide a deeper and more specific plans that you have to achieve it.

Katie, what the prompt is asking you to do is present some common factors that exist between you and Duke. These could be in terms of academic compatibility, objectives, ideologies, or simply, a common desire for a particular type of education. The response that you have currently provided leans more towards the "how will you pursue your academic and social interests as a student" prompt than the "Why Duke?" question. I haven't really read anything in your current essay that would tell me why Duke is a good match for you. Neither does it tell me what first attracted you to Duke. What I have learned, is how you plan to study at Duke. Which is similar to the prompt requirements, but not really the exact information that the question requires as an answer. Look at the sample essay on this forum. I believe you can get an idea as to how to better respond to the prompt if you review the previous work of others first.
