UC Essay Prompt #1 - Describe the World you come from and how is has shaped your dreams and aspirations.
Constructive Criticsm would be GREATLY appreciated :) Thank You
We often hear of families coming in different shapes and sizes, and if this is the truth, then mine should be considered huge. By huge I simply do not mean big in size, but rather filled to the bursting point with knowledge, stories, experiences, advice, and guidance. I grew up as a child with parents who divorced when I was a year old, yet this never seemed to slow me down or get in the way of my goals and aspirations of becoming a veterinarian.
My life began in a house located on a narrow, oak-lined street illuminated with sunshine and surrounded by devoted family members. As a child, I was raised by a single mother and guided through life by my two older sisters. Although this may seem like the ideal childhood, I was exposed to the trials and tribulations of what life can create in a matter of seconds. Despite the fact that we are more of a family now then we have ever been, there was a point in my life where my sisters decided to turn down the wrong path and I turned the exact opposite way. I have experienced firsthand how drugs and alcohol can injure a family, and what it takes from a mother to pull everything back together. I have always admired the determination of my family members because it has allowed me to be the best student, daughter, and friend I could possibly be.
