I wrote a rough draft for my supplemental essay for Duke this morning and I would absolutely love feedback! I am just getting started writing my admissions essays so any sort of commentary would be greatly appreciated- thanks.
For as long as I can remember, my life consisted of two majors things: playing basketball and watching Duke Basketball games. Even as a little girl, I wanted so badly to be one of the crazy students with their face painted blue, having an amazing time with all their friends cheering for their team in Cameron Stadium. My desire to attend Duke only flourished when I visited the campus this summer. I absolutely fell in love with the architecture and the scenery. But what stood out the most to me was the sense of pride and community every student I met seemed to have. It made me want to be able to have that feeling every day I was in school as well.
As a student who is still indecisive about what exactly she wants to study, I believe I could easily find my passion at Duke University. The ability to work hands on and form a personal relationship with my professors is something unique about Duke that I would value. Apart from the rigorous curriculum and well-respected professors, Duke offers endless other opportunities to help students like me find themselves outside of the classroom. The amazing internship opportunities as well as the DukeEngage program are just two things, uniquely Duke, that I am very interested in and that I also believe I would benefit from greatly.
In my eyes, no other university possesses the excellent combination of academics, community, opportunity and school pride that Duke University does.
