The prompt: Write an essay in which you tell us about someone who has made an impact on your life and explain how and why this person is important to you.
I really need help organizing my thoughts. Also, correcting my grammar, and spelling would be appreciated as well.
The people who know us best are the ones that have known us from the beginning. From our daily rituals to the complexity of our emotions, our parents always seem to stand by our sides. There always is one parent that you seem to have a stronger bond with, and for me, it was my mother. Her ability to put me and my brother before herself doesn't cease to amaze me. My mother's competency to help develop and enhance my life has truly inspired me to get the best out of it and not stress out over the little things. In my life, I can say, for a fact, that no one will make a bigger impact.
When I was a young boy, my father and mother decided to split, for reasons that are still unknown to me to this day to this day. Between the constant screaming matches, and the emotional stress, life was a blur. I anticipated with fear of what would happen next. As time went on, the clashes become constant and the bills were accumulating. Seeing that we were going to lose the house, my mother got a full time job to support the family, which my father had abandoned. She tried with determination to enclose us away from the predicament with my father. Even through the weighty hardship she was enduring and the emotional pain that she was going through , she continued to support and motivate me to do good in school. I remember every night she would tell me "Everything's going to be okay, you just worry about you.". It would anger and confuse me that through the midst of all that was happening, we were still her top priority. My love and appreciation for my mom became clear. Even though she was dealing with a very life altering event, she fought for us, so we would not have to go through such hardships alone at a young age. Through all of that, she also taught me the true value of family.
As the years went by, her guidance and support didn't falter. About two years ago, I had to go to driving school, which she paid for. I would go to my assigned drive times, but everytime I drove, I would make careless and idiotic mistakes, which the driving instructor couldn't seem to help me with. He would simply say "You're not doing it right, boy", and make some weird gestures with his hand. My mom hearing about this, decided she would bring it into her own hands. One day, after a drive time, I was surprised by my mom. She tossed me the keys to her car, and told me to drive. My mind began to race, "What if I mess up?". I kept questioning myself as I got closer to the car. I got in the car and became even more nervous. I turned on the car, shifted into drive, and went off. The first turn I got to, I became distracted and blew through a stop sign, but was quickly corrected by my mother. Her composure and patience eventually sent me into a calm state in which I could concentrate. I cleared my head, and started to drive again. Every little thing I did wrong, I was told how to correct it. Even though there was a lot of constructive criticism, I learned, because she took the time to help me. This may seem like a little event to most, but it just made it even more coherent that I can always rely on her, even when the issue is big or small.
My mother has always been there through the hard times and everyday events. If I had not gone through the bad with her, I don't think I would realize how lucky I am to have a mother that cares. My life would not be where it is right now, without her. I can see now that I will always be grateful for the things she does, and I will try to be independent, solve my problems head on, and get the best out of life, by not stressing over things. Without her and the events that happened I would probably be a different person, but I'm proud of the person I turned out to be. I will always remember what she has done for me.
