Suddenly I thought the Writing Center of OU is the best place to describe. Oakland University Writing Center is located in Kresge Library. When I walked in the Writing Center I saw two big plants in the entrance of the room and that the walls were painted with orange and blue. There were tables, chairs, a reference desk and an office inside. This room was different than other rooms. They also posted paintings drawn by students from OU's Art studio.

When they came out from writing center they have smiles on their faces and they are proud of themselves. In the forty minute sessions, a consultant finds out what difficulties students have and how to solve them. They focus on rubrics, assignments, or the topics given by instructors. First, consultant read aloud through the paper. The writer and the consultant both think together on what is the best way to explain the main idea through detailed examples. The consultants go through each sentence and word of student's work to check and make sure everything is used correctly. If any word, sentence, or idea needs to be changed then the consultant first asks the student if they understand why that word or sentence should be changed. The consultant then gives full explanations on how to correct mistakes. The consultant might ask questions like "is this the way you want to write?" and "did this essay express your feelings about the topic?"
