I don,t agree with the assertion because I believe that most of the difficult challanges one face come from the outside. I also believe that one we usually sets goal for ourseleves knowing our capasities or not much much ahead to them. But the greatest are the challenges which come from outside and for which, we are not prepared of.

According to me, people set the goals in the life which they think they can achieve. Every person know his/her strength or drawbacks and oweing to them, the goals are either reachable or reachable with certain difficulty for which person prepares himself. The challenges which are are set by the person himself are not far ahead of the actual situation. This will help the person to get perepared for the upcoming challenge and situation. when a person for example set the goal for winning a marathan he/she will be prepared with the challenges of it and in this way the results are in favour. But if suddenly on the marathan day some misshap occurs like muscle strain or toe injury then in this situation result will certainly go down.

On the countrary, the challenges for which a person is not prepared of or the challenges which have come from outside are difficult to deal. For example,as happened with me, when I was perparing myself for medical exams and suddenly challenge from the university rules came and according to that seats are even lesser than before because of the new reservations. The situation was even difficult then before. The reason I felt it more harder is that I was not prepared for that. Similarly when India was facing ecnomic problems and working on politics and sudden attack from nabighouring countries shook it hard. Its not like India cant face it but the problem was that india was not prepared for it.

Acoording to me, life is full of challenges. We need them to grow wheter they are set by ourselevs or from outside. But results are better when we are prepared for them. When we set our goals we can expect challenges and can get ready for them. Where as when they are from outside we can't get prepared and hence are difficult to deal.

Please tell me the approximate score which I can get on this. I am gointo give the english composition on 22nd may. Also tell me my errors so that I can improve it.

Thanks.

Maybe the tasks other people give us to do In are In the next few paragraphs we will discuss it in further details.

I think this is an error, but I don't know how to fix it.

Hey, as I type this, I have not yet read the essay, and I am interested to see how you answer the question. To me, the question seems silly, because there is no reason to think that my self-imposed challenges are any more difficult than the ones life naturally throws.

I give it a C! Well, you have a lot of spelling errors, but it seems that they are the kind that you would hae corrected if you had noticed them. Make time to proofread when you take the test. Also, it is not good to write "According to me..."

:) Good luck on the test!

Thanks Kevin,

I really appriciate your help. English was not my official language, but I am studying it with full devotion now. Can you please suggest me some more points which can help in improving my essays? Like, I will do a strong proofread from now on, anything else?

Thanks

Hello Kevin,

Need your help. I am going to take clep english compositiion exam on this friday.
( I know it's too early to recieve new knowledge) Can you please guide me how should I approach to "on the spot topic." I am not a native American hence I am not aware about American history, geography and economy. That is why, I sometime find myself with lack of examples.

Can you please suggest me which type of example I should choose? Most of the time question ask you to agree or disagree about the assertion.

I will be waiting for your response.

Thanks in advance.

A great way to improve your writing is to click around in these forums and look at the advice other students have received. Also, most importantly, read Strunk & White's Elements of Style.

For your "on the spot topic" I think you should write about the things you DO know about. You do not have to write specifically about America history and culture, do you? If you do have to write about American history, it would be good to read some stories about various times in American history in BOTH English and your native language. That way, you can write about it when necessary.

Also, it will be good to practice some sentences that you read. I think it is good to commit a few phrases to memory. Does that answer your question?

Thanks a billion Kevin,

I will surely do these things. No I don't have to write sepecifically about American history. I was just trying to know which type of general examples I can use in my essays?

Can you tell me from where I can find general phrases???

Thanks again for your help.
