In order to be considered for preferred admission, you must indicate your interest on the U-M Member Page of the common application and answer the second essay question, which is: "Describe the unique qualities that attract you to the specific undergraduate College or School (including preferred admission and dual-degree programs) to which you are applying at the University of Michigan. How would that curriculum support your interests?" (500 words maximum)

The essay should clearly explain your interest in business and/or the Ross School of Business. Feel free to include additional interests, as applicable. Avoid describing the University of Michigan; the Ross BBA Program; or our rankings, placement data, and class statistics. Rather, highlight what's important about and to you. Focus on your unique interests and goals, and explain how the Ross BBA supports them.

Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Global Business. How fitting is it that these areas of study at Ross are all areas I've dabbled in, and would be thrilled to learn about? This is precisely why I've known I want to study at University of Michigan's Ross Business School for years now. My active passions for business need to flourish; Ross can and will maximize my potential.

I've been gravitating towards business for essentially as long as I can remember. Cute business startups in elementary school transitioned into a concrete one in high school. My online, environmentally friendly jewelry company brought me to the forefront of business. Deciding which materials were the most cost-effective and eco-friendly, how to brand the company, determining venues to sell at, and shipping diverse international sales became some of my real life learning opportunities for sustainability, entrepreneurship, marketing, and global business. You could probably call it action based learning. I've prospered with my own action based learning; it gave me skills that can't be taught by a book. I yearn to complete more of this learning at Ross. On my tour of the building, the trading room caught my attention. While I've toyed with simulated stocks trading at home online, I can't compare it to the wonderful learning opportunity with Ross' resources. These precise resources and action based learning at Ross will help me pursue my interests to a greater extent. What stands out to me about Ross is this critical, innovative learning process that teaches applicable skills that I know can propel a business career.

The curriculum at Ross suits my interests precisely. I envision myself exploring my strengths and learning how to make a positive impact. As an individual whose interest is piqued in multiple areas of business, when I read "whether you have a specific career in mind, or want to explore your options, Ross can help make it happen," I was thrilled yet again with Ross. I would especially appreciate being able to select precise courses I felt a curiosity in. As a leadership motivated individual, I would be thrilled to take the "Businesses and Leaders: The Positive Differences" course. I wish to continue my leadership into college, and taking this course would give me opportunities to grow into even stronger leadership roles, creating an even larger positive change. Additionally, I would enjoy participating in the Leadership Crisis Challenge, as well as taking courses that suit my other interests such as New Product & Innovation Management, Green Development, and Strategic Brand Management. Ross suits me because these specialized courses are precisely what I'd enjoy studying and implementing in the real world.

Undoubtedly, if given the honor of being admitted, I will end up leading a business-based club at Ross. As an innovator and hands on person, I have too much of a commitment to business to let the learning stop outside of the classroom, or to stay a follower. In addition, I would take advantage of Ross' Global Initiatives program, eager to further my studies of Global Business into real-world application. Overall, I see myself as a focused and driven student, and a Ross BBA would give me countless opportunities to pursue my lifelong dedication.

Let me know of any spelling or grammatical errors, as well as if some parts just sound funny! I know that my writing style is weird sometimes. Thanks so much!
