A. NYU's global network provides students with hundreds of academic areas of interest for students to cultivate their intellectual curiosity and to help achieve their career goals. Whether you are entirely undecided about your academic plans or you have a definitive program of study in mind, what are your own academic interests? As a child, when most of my friends were off at summer camp, I would be relaxing at the movie theater. When my friends wanted to play video games, I wanted to watch movies. When my friends or family wanted to watch movies, I was in heaven. My obsession with this art form continued to grow as I got older. The ability to visually tell stories by creating new worlds and characters fascinated me. Eventually, I realized that I wanted to become a filmmaker. After trying and failing many times to fit a video production or film studies class into my schedule at school, I began to educate myself about film by reading books, watching YouTube videos, and doing as much hands on work as possible.
Now I am prepared to get a real education in film. NYU New York is the perfect place for me to begin my journey. The Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television is home to the most prestigious and renowned film program in the world. Through its Craft Production and Scriptwriting courses, such as Directing the Actor, Film Marketing and Distribution, and Comedy Writing for Film and Television, I will increase my knowledge of advertising and selling my films, and become a better comedic storyteller by learning how to work better with my actors and by gaining the required writing skills. Located in New York City, NYU can provide me with the ultimate education required to become a great director through its curriculum, internships, and by exposing me to a wide variety of cultures and customs.
