The first thing I ever wanted to be in my life was a Lawyer, simple, safe and rewarding. For a few years after that decision, I felt content, but as both my interests and I grew I wanted to be a fashion designer. The thought was thrilling, a fast paced ever evolving world with many risks and challenges. The thought was as foreign to me as 'Stirrings' were to Jonas in The Giver. Afterwards, when I discovered crime dramas I turned to the field of investigative detecting and forensics, more so forensic anthropology. Nearing the end of high school, the business world caught my attention. By the time I graduated, I was completely lost as to any direction for my life. While most of my classmates has known who they were and what they wanted to be for most of high school, I was only just beginning to discover myself. I left high school with one last career in mind acting. Over time, that too faded and for a while, I was lost.
Whilst attending college I began working at a local pharmacy called Jollys Pharmacy, in order to pay for my education. After graduation I stayed on and eventually began working in the administrative office. At the time, I had no interest in my field of Pharmacy itself. English and Literature had always been my forte, and I wanted to explore it as much as possible, yet there was always a fascination for the medical and healthcare field. At work, I had taken part in the internal pharmacy technician course for fun and passed. A few months later, the founder of the pharmacy passed away. He was an admirable individual and family friend and his death hit the entire country hard. During that time of mourning, I realised how much I truly appreciated all that he did for people while working in the pharmacy and I wanted to help other just like he did.
For the first time in my life, I was certain about my future, I wanted to be a Pharmacist. The more I thought about it the more it embodied the aspects I liked most in my previous choices. The rewards and ability of being a Lawyer, the forever fast paced and changing world of fashion design, the intensive knowledge associated with forensics, the constant communication of the business world and the ability to play many roles in a patient's life like an actress.
Knowing the hard work ahead of me, I am ready to do what it takes in order to become the best Pharmacist that I an be. Like my high school alma mater's moto says "Labor Omnia Vincit", Hard Work Conquerors All, and that is exactly what I plan to do in University. My aim is to become a more disciplined and educated individual so that I too one day, will be helping those around to be the most healthier versions of themselves.
