The line chart illustrates the changing rates of three different areas of crime in Newport city centre between 2003 and 2012.
Overall, the number of incidents that took place in burglary witnessed a significant drop throughout the given period, while car theft and robbery remained stable.
Regarding the decreasing category, burglary was the most alarming problem at the beginning at around 3400 incidents. After a peak of 3600 by 2004, it underwent a reversed pattern, hitting the lowest at roughly 1100 in 2008, and came in second place (approximately 1400) at the end.
