The writer of the issue contends that some people believe that students must merely take into account their talents and interest while choosing their field of study. Contrary to this popular belief, there are still those who argue that student should base their choice of study on the availability of jobs in that field. In what follows the main reasons posited by both groups are first discussed and then my own position would be delineated.
Those people who argue for considering talents and interests as a main factor in choosing filed of their studies, seems to have two chief reasons for their position. First of all, in their point of view, students who study the field in which they are interested can make progress more than others because one gets the impetus for putting in sustained hard work if the work to be carried out interests him. Studying with eagerness leads to academic excellence in the particular subject, they would be more successful students with wider information in relevance with their field to employ in their job. Secondly, the people who give more weight the role of aptitudes and inclination argue that students who are studying the field which are coincident with their talents will have better results in comparison with those who are not talented in this field. Moreover, when these students see their results and their own success they become even more interested in their field and try harder for their education.
As was stated already, there are some others who believe that students should take into consideration the availability of jobs in the field they want to choose more than anything else. These people believe that studying in a field which doesn't have any available job in the society is a futile job. In their frame of reference, these students not only waste their own time but also waste the country budget and facilities by studying in these majors. They also think that the college students do not have enough knowledge to make decision and may choose their field of studying based on their emotions which may transmute during the time. However, as these people mention, considering a job opportunity as a main factor for choosing the field of study is a more rational decision and the students after commending their academic education and being under the influence of their department's plans and their courses will become interested in their studying and by having a look at their prospects and their future financial standings they will be more encourage to work harder to excel in their lives.
As for my point of view, I should say that I am inclined to believe that students must choose their field of study based on their inclination and their talents. I think that students by studying in their favorite field will be more successful in their studying and after that in their career. Furthermore, in my point of view people with little bit of entrepreneurship and imagination can make succeed in a career related to any kind of subject. By the way of illustration I want to make an example in this case. Graduated students can attend different programs such as start-up weekend in which groups of developers, business managers pitch ideas for new startup companies, form teams around those ideas. By this way the students not only create a niche for themselves but also they can try for entrepreneurship in society too. Furthermore, I think that migration to another city or even a country can be a good solution for this too. Some fields of study in some special region may not contain appropriate job for graduated students because of a glut of experts in this field or because of the progress of technology or the lack of progress but people by migration to other places can get established in a well-paying career. On the basis of the points mentioned above, I am convinced that interests and aptitudes are the most important factors for choosing the field in which they want to pursue studies.
