PROMPT:In your own words describe the traits of a leader. Of these traits describe those that fits you best. and why?
Leadership is a learned behavior. Rarely is one born with the ability to lead. Authentic leaders are very seldom chosen by elections or through an anonymous rise to power. There are a certain set of characteristics that a person must obtain before they can be recognized as a leader. Amongst these are: an adamant set of morals and values, confidence, and trustworthiness .
A leader with an adamant set of morals and values gives those who they lead assurance that the decisions they make will be desirable ones. Leaders without adamant morals and values are not leaders at all, but followers.
A good leader is confident. In order to lead and set direction a leader needs to appear confident as a person and in the leadership role. Such a person inspires confidence in others and draws out the trust and best efforts of the team to complete the task well. A leader who conveys confidence towards the proposed objective inspires the best effort from team members.
A good leader has an exemplary character. It is of utmost importance that a leader is trustworthy to lead others. A leader needs to be trusted and be known to live their life with honesty and integrity. A good leader "walks the talk" and in doing so earns the right to have responsibility for others. True authority is born from respect for the good character and trustworthiness of the person who leads. Of these characteristics confidence exemplifies my personality the best. I say this because throughout my life I have gone through and overcome many obstacles which have brought about physical and mental confidence.
