Writing task 1 _ Two methods of collecting water for irrigation purpose
The diagrams explain two traditional systems to draw water. The first method involves human power while cow is involved by the second method. Overall, both methods use pail as its tool.
In the first method, called Rope and Bucket, draws water by using two pulleys. Pulley 1 is put on the left side of the stagnant pit while the other one is above the pulley 1. Then, the rope is fixed to the pail, and is installed to the pulleys'rollers. Moreover, there is an irrigation channel right beside stagnant pit and a down hill next to it.
The process is started by putting the buffalo on the down hill with the rope on his body. So when it goes down through the down hill, the rollers work and a pail of water comes out. The water is directly poured to the irrigation channel because the pail is blocked right after it is up.
On the other hand, the second method, called Swing Basket, involves two workers and used a traditional pail made of bamboo with two ropes are fixed to both its right and left side. Its irrigation channel is beside the reservoir. In compare to the first method, this Swing Basket runs simply by swinging the pail full of water. So the process is started by the workers holds the two ropes in each side, after that they dip the pail to the reservoir and finally it is swung and poured to the irrigation channel.
