The table illustrates the figures of consumer expenditure by three categories in five different countries in 2002.
It is clear that the largest proportion on consumer spending went on food,drinks and tobaco. On the other side, leisure and education category have the lowest percentage in the table.
The table data clearly show that, the amount of consumer spending on food,drinks and tobaco was noticeably higher in Turkey at 32,14% than Ireland at nearly 29%. The proportion of spending on leisure and education was also highest in the Turkey at 4,35% while expenditure on clothing and footwear in Italy is significant higher at 9%.
One more interesting thing to note that Sweden have the lowest percentage on food, drinks, tobaco and leisure, education which is on after another at nearly 16% and 3% whereas Spain is slightly higher in the proportion but the lowest data in leisure and education which is only 2%
