The bar graph illustrates the proportion of Australian males and females from 6 age groups practising exercises daily in 2010.
Overall, women did regular physical activity more than men in almost all age groups (except in the 15 - 24 bracket). Another visible trend was that the percentage of men who did exercise routine tended to lower when they got older.
The highest number of Australian males who participated in daily exercise was in the youngest group age, at 52.8%. This was also the only group in which men surpassed women. As time went by, the proportion of men taking physical activity daily decreased significantly by around 13% and dropped to its lowest point when men were in their 35 - 44. From the age of 45, the rate of Australian males practising regularly started growing gradually until it reached 46,7% in the 65 and over bracket.
Meanwhile, only 47,7% of women in Australia did regular physical activity in the group age 15 to 24. As their age increased, the proportion of women participating in daily exercise grew steadily and reached the highest point in the group 45 - 54 - year - old, at 53.3%. In the oldest bracket, the percentage of females who did physical activity daily decreased to 47.1%, nearly equal to that of Australian males.
