The table shows database about how travel mode usages have changed in England from 1985 to 2000. Overall, people travel more miles in most types of traveling except taking local bus, riding bicycles and walking.
People seem to be using more of mechanical kind of transport, such as car, train and taxi, compared to the usage in 1985. The number of miles traveled by car, which is the most used transport type, and train increased by around 100 miles when distance traveled with taxi and long distance bus tripled in 2000.
In contrast, taking local bus decreased almost twice whereas bicycling and walking distances dropped only by few miles each. Even though walking distance is dropped from 255 to 237 it is the fifth most used travel type. Bicycle and taxi have the least traveling miles of 41 and 42 when car has the peak miles of 4806 in 2000.
