RE; essay "Better an egg today than a hen tomorrow" -
earnings, savings, greed, and the pursuit of materialism
This maxim suggests that it's not always best to save for tomorrow, as tomorrow may never come. I would write this essay in the context of earnings, savings, greed, and the pursuit of materialism. Or on the other hand it may be all about "Rejoice in the Youth".
See GRE essay pool for even more vague topics or maxims.

This sounds like it's got the potential to be a fun essay to write! Don't forget to open with a strong and interesting first sentence and paragraph! When you finish, send it back here for an edit or two. Good luck and have fun!
:)
I'm new here and thought it was (the topic) advice sought by a writer. So, then, let me address this to some of my students.
Personally I feel the WANT to brainstorm it as I've just spent HOURS contemplating the subject of EGGS which led me to this forum.
Quite useful in propagating material, me thinks.
Thanks.
