Title For Poem Analysis Essay
"Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" title
I am writing an analysis on "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost for my literature course and I need a title. I titled another analysis I did simply as "Symbolism in 'The Lottery' ." However, I would like to think of a title that is more appealing but still clearly shows what the paper will be about. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Well, what is your paper about? Are you focusing your analysis on a certain aspect of the poem? Usually reading the thesis statement will give a good idea for a suitable title.
@TJLuschen Sorry, I forgot to include what aspects I will be focusing on.
I will be writing about the symbolism, rhyme scheme, and metaphorical language of the poem. I have not completely decided on what my thesis will be, but I will be revealing what the theme is and I will include how Frost used these poetic devices to write his poem. I must also include direct quotes from the piece to support my claim on what the theme is.
Holt Educational Consultant - / 15458 Ariel, you have way too many themes involved in the development of your poem analysis to successfully develop an effective title at this point. What you should do is write the various aspects that are required by your professor for the analysis. You have to first, write the complete paper and then after, review what you have written and try to see what pops out at you. It could be the major discussion point of the essay or a quote that you have taken a fancy to. Think of a title that will best describe what you have written in terms of analysis and quotes. For now, you should use a place holder for the title instead. A suitable place holder title for this would be as simple as "A Thematic Analysis of Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost". The place holder will at least keep you on track regarding the point of your literary analysis while you develop the rest of the paper. It is extremely difficult to develop a title if you have not written the paper yet. That is like putting the cart before the horse.
@Holt
Thank you very much, your response was very informative. I will go ahead and finish the paper and then find a suitable title, like you suggested.
Thanks again.
