STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The man on the steering of a vehicle takes control of a modern day machine which is the manifestation of thousand hands used in its manufacturing. The engineering at the heart of this sector, i.e., Automotive Software Engineering offers a challenging and demanding career enabling engineers to build machines that do not require direct human energy. My passion for Automotive takes me to the memories of my childhood when I had a great interest in Racing Sports and Cars. Since my school days I have been deeply impressed by the local mechanic to whom my father used to take the car and he carried the image of a qualified, experienced doctor who understands the pulse of the patients. My inquisitive nature coupled with a strong desire to build a career where my intellectual and analytical abilities can be utilized to the maximum has led to the decision of pursuing a career in this ever-growing field of Automotive software. The urge to do something innovative and challenging motivated me towards pursuing Engineering in the Electronics and communicon.
Academic Background:
I would wish to introduce myself as an ambitious and young Electronics and Communication Engineer with abundant stamina and intense desire to improve knowledge. Since my childhood my parents have inculcated in me values - to be kind and polite to people. At the same time they encouraged me to have a healthy competition. They encouraged me to excel in academics as well as extracurricular activities. Those influences have come a long way to shape my personality in a positive way.
I was an average student during my High school tenure. But due to the expert and dedicated faculty I developed interest in basic science subjects like Physics and Mathematics. The efforts on my part and the contributions from my teachers reflected in my Secondary School Examination results where I scored 79.8% marks. This result boosted my confidence to go for Science stream for Higher Secondary study level. My decent score of 88.8% at Higher Secondary School Examination, along with Kerala entrance examination results where I got 4686 rank that gave me a smooth entry to one of the prime engineering college, Vishwajyothi college of engineering and Technology, affiliated to MG University,Kottayam.
My carefully decided plan to pursue engineering education after high school was based more on personal interest than on the prospects of the profession. In the first year I had a firm grasp of basic sciences such as Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Chemistry, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Mathematics Level 1 , etc. The subjects that I liked the most during my first year were Basic mechanical engineering and Engineering mechanics. I literally fell in love with them. This struck my chord and I felt that I had an innate interest in mechanical field. The subjects covered in the subsequent years paved the path for a smooth transition from basic sciences to the basics of Electronics engineering. During the subsequent years of my undergraduation, I had studied a unique blend of different subjects like Network theory, Solid state devices, Computer programming. During this time I developed a keen interest in programming mainly c++, sql. I still love coding and complex algorithms, especially arrays and classes. I have a knack in analysing complex electrical networks, I could easily explain a complex network by using various network formulas like kirchoffs laws, star and net topology . I still remember my network theory professor said that I had a great skill and if I continue practicing it .One day I would defenitelly become a good network engineer.
In the fourth semester, firstly I liked Digital electronics that made me understand the basics of electronics how electronics works in 0 and 1. Secondly Signals and system which threw light on how a signal is been conceived in electronics. Most of my friends found it difficult ,so I even took tutions for them . I knew that this subject is the basic of all electronics, so I toiled day in and day out to study it. Finally, the most exciting part was the Computer programming lab, which I loved the most.
Now third year, was a crucial year for me. This was the year when I learned a lot of subjects that helped me out in my Mini Project. Digital Communication technique and Electronics Instrumentation provided me an outlook on how different physical features like temperature etc can be measured. Moroever it also provided me an outlook about real time systems. I got really interested in the working of DSP real time chips. I was fascinated by the speed of this chips ,they could receive and process data simultaneously in merely micro seconds.
Final year was the year of application of knowledge for me. I even repaired a sound system at my home. I got deeply interested in chip programming that I bought a robot programming kit and programmed it myself. I feel so happy when I see a program written by me works infront of me. We had Systems Lab, here we learnt different chip programming like Vhdl, Mplab etc. I also had a keen interest in Matlab which can be used to model differential equations. I love playing with graphs and equations. Inorder to study more about matlab and its applications I even joined an online group (Engineers garage).
These courses in my undergraduate work have given me an insight into the breadth and depth of Electronics engineering principles and fundamentals. I constantly strived to achieve better understanding of my course work through questioning and logical reasoning, which further helped me in establishing good rapport with my faculty. I made it a point that in addition to my course works. I would also keep myself abreast with the latest developments in the field of Electronics. This insight has been very valuable to me, because, it has not only provided me a solid grounding in the basics of Electronics, but has also helped me in further identifying my interests and strengths. I learned how to analyze, design and develop 'ideas' with proper approach and specific methods. Also they gave me insights about the valuable need to use new technology in order to optimize the latent potential in me.

Project Experience:
I have worked on 2 projects. Mini project titled "Indoor Parking manager". In this project I had designed an affordable and advanced parking system .This project fetched my group second price in a competition held by IETE(Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers). I used 89C52 microcontroller and programmed in keil. Instead of using advanced sensors for sensing the automobile I used an innovative idea - LDR , I sensed the vehicle using the shadow .I also made use of 4X4 matrix keypad password protection for each vehicle. This project was a hands own experience for me. It provided a huge confidence boost for me.
My main project was "Shop automation" here also I applied my brain and sought out the common electronics elements inplace of costly devices. A trolley which was powered by battery and RF transmitter . When a customer purchases a product he has to swipe the Rf id of the product on Rf id receiver. By this he can avoid the billing section besides this the amount can be paid by a Rf id card too. Many location based services are provided by finding the position of the trolley by 3 ir sensors. We also plan to evolve this project with NFC and GSM.
I have also submitted a paper on"FMRI- Functional magnetic resonance imaging" in IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)
document properties as being "Certified by IEEE Journals PDF Checker".

It measures the haemodynamic response (change in blood flow) related to neural activity in the brain or spinal cord of humans or other animals. It is one of the most recently
developed forms of neuro-imaging. Functional MRI is a very powerful method to map brainfunctions with relatively high spatial and temporal resolution. Hence we can control different devices using our brain. Since my early b-tech days I had this idea in my mind .I belived that there must be some advancement in the interaction with machines other than touch. So I consulted it with one of my Proffesors and he suggested me to present a paper. I feel proud of having such inspirational Proffesors.
Moroever I have also presented a paper on "Red Taction -Inter body communication" in INFUCE 2K13 an event organized in muttom college of engineering by IEEE .Its an advanced form of Bluetooth. Here we can transmit data at the rate of 1 mpbs which is very high to that of conventional Bluetooth which provides upto 40 kpbs.
I have also presented a seminar in my college as the part of the curricullam on"Helliodisplay". Its an advanced form of display mechanism. Besides this Professors used to provide oppurtunities to perform seminars on our study topics..So I got many opportunity to present seminars before the class. I love to do presentations .I feel that it helps us in improving our presentation skills.
Besides gaining an insight into the theoretical aspects of my coursework, I also got an opportunity to attend numerous seminars and webinars by eminent personalities - Fatigue failure by Dr P. Vasudevan [IIT, Mumbai]. I had attended a workshop by ESDM held by government of India. That provided me an opportunity to interact with great CEOs like Rakesh Arakkal MD of FCI OEN a industry leader in cable manufacturing. That inspired and motivated me that one day I want to become like them. I could see the effect of foreign education in their personality.
Extracurricular Activities
Apart from my academics I have participated in various competions held at college and intracollege level. I have never missed a tech fest near my locality. Eventhough I was not able to achieve prizes but it had never demotivated me from attending a tech fest. I have learnt a lot from each tech fest . I believe that hands own knowledge is the best than anything. Tech fest provides a plethora of practical knowledge and a stage for healthy competition.
I also have visited many places as part of industrial visits from my college. This include hydro power projects, factories, especially car, electronics, IT etc. This helped me to remain updated about the technologies and work atmosphere in various factories. Moreover after every visits I feel more energetic and enthusiastic.
I have a passion for driving cars and love spending time maintaining it. Cars are the most fascinating things for me in this world. When I open the bonnet of the car I feel like I have seen a field full of roses. Whenever a car passes by I discuss about the features of the car like its power, engine, transmission with my friends. My friends tease me that I should have been an automobile engineer.
Aspirations:
I have however realized that besides having a smattering of every field, it is essential that one should identify one's forte and strive relentlessly towards perfection in order to attain proficiency in that particular discipline. The attributes such as determination to reach goals set up and insatiable desire to acquire knowledge in every field have helped me at every juncture of my life. Also the under graduate course honed my analytical, computational & experimental skills, programming ability and computer competency, giving me an idea of the immense challenges in Electronics Engineering all over the globe. It has strengthened my decision to pursue a Graduate course in Automotive Software Engineering.
I know that not only Germany has got good reputation for higher education around the world but is also ranked among the 8 most industrialized countries in the world along with among top ten contenders of automobiles manufacturing (Quantity). Its automotive industry is among the top manufacturers in the world with famous BMW and Mercedes as the leading success story of quality, modernity and comfort in automobiles.
A degree from a University like Chemnitz would serve as a solid base for a successful career in engineering, where hopefully, I would be involved in the development of new technology for cleaner, economic and more efficient transportation systems. After the completion of my degree I will be able to serve German Automobile Industry and can even serve my country India because there will be a booming industry established up to that time. I scarcely need to say that your university being amongst the best schools for Mechanical Engineering would surely provide the best in terms of experienced faculty, infrastructure facilities in an academically stimulating environment. To be able to pursue a career in the field of interest with the best facilities is a god's gift to every aspiring student. An objective self-assessment gives me the confidence to state that I have the motivation, commitment, ability and interest that are required to do justice to an exacting graduate program. An opportunity to study in your university would assist in guiding my career in the proper direction. I sincerely hope that you will consider me worthy of such a great honor.
