Letter Of Motivation
Dear Sir or Madam:
I am applying to the Master program of Electrical Engineering with specialization in Electrical Power Engineering. My career ambition is to do research in Power Engineering.
Since my early school days I have good aptitude for mathematics and I secured 93% in high school. I excelled in a highly competitive entrance exam and got admission in -----, one of the reputed universities in India, for Senior Secondary School. I opted the same university for my undergraduate engineering program.
During my undergraduate studies, I really enjoyed some of the subjects which ensued in me a desire for higher studies. Power System, Circuit Theory, Power Electronics, Machine and Power System Design are among those. I realized that I have proclivity for Lab sessions and over the period of time I enjoyed spending long hours in lab to understand and explore lab instruments. Visit to Power System and Power Electronics Lab always increased my enthusiasm level that invigorates me.
Gradually during my college years I found myself inclined towards Power System Engineering. One of the most important parts of my academics was to undertake Power System Design Project in Final Year of my bachelor program. Indeed it was great learning experience and accomplishment of project stimulated in me a desire for research work. It also makes me feel humble that what I know is drop and what I want to know is ocean.
By the time I completed my graduation, I got a job offer from -----, one of the biggest firm in Asia. I was very enthusiastic about joining the company and to get firsthand experience of the professional world. It helped me lot to grow as an individual and to become a much more organized and responsible human being. Three times I have been awarded by my employer for exceptional performance. I have a strong conviction that my aptitude and logical reasoning are two things that have helped me lot and I am thankful to God for that. After completing two year in this vocation, I would like to go for my long term goal of research work in my desired field.
Being an avid sportsperson, I have represented my college in various National Level events in football, basketball, volleyball and athletics. I have won trophies for my department as a volleyball and basketball captain. I am also an active participant in community service endeavors. I was the active member of the student organization that was running a school for children of the weaker section of society. Sometimes in my spare time I used to teach those students also and developed a liking for the noble profession of teaching. The school has 200 students enrolled on its list. In the hall of residence, I was student food monitor for our dining hall.
I believe in enjoying my work and transcending limitations to achieve success by contributing to the assignment. Each and every task can be a window of opportunity to learn something new and by that one can constantly excel. I would like to pursue my MS in specialized fields like Power System, Traction System, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, High Voltage and I am confident of contributing considerably to this field. I am very sure that MS at this stage will not only put my career in the right track but, a degree in MS would be a suitable platform to embark on my journey, but my quest for learning never ends.
