Hi! I'm trying to write a personal narrative and ran across this site. I'm hping someone can help me out. I've noticed most personal narratives have a specific story...mine is a bit different. It's fairly short and to the point. I'd like to get some feedback. Thanks!

At the age of 40, I need a wider scope. I have been a licensed massage therapist for 12 years. My practice has been the one constant in my life. Amidst life's surprises like divorce, new love, unplanned pregnancy, a second marriage, I am consistently drawn to the art of healing. It's who I am.

As an injury treatment therapist, I work closely with a variety of medical professionals and lately I've felt self-conscious of my educational achievements. I respect and value the healing capacity of bodywork, though I am personally not living up to my potential. I have plateaued financially and am no longer intellectually challenged by my profession. I want to work hand in hand with my clients; I want a leading role to help them along their healing path. I am comfortable taking medical histories, examining and treating patients. Now I am ready to add to my knowledge base and expand my scope of practice beyond the restrictions as a massage therapist. It's time to share my talents and dedication with the community as a core provider rather than extrinsic therapist.

I've spent a majority of my adult life studying the human body. I am fascinated by and have an unwavering curiosity and dedication to the healing process. UW has a distinguished reputation in the medical community, which is why UW is the ideal institution to further my career. As a current successful small business owner, I would easily translate what I learn and share it with the community as a successful example of your program. Offering me this opportunity would be a gift, not just to me, but also to our community. I have a great deal of passion and compassion that will guide me to provide quality care as a physician assistant.

what is your purpose for this essay? I got that you wanted to teach at UW? or d you want to go back to school. make sure that you make your purpose known to the recipient, as i am sure you will. It is a great essay, short and to the point about your life and how you have come to a point in your life where you are ready to put in the effort to expand your life and your interest in your field. make sure to add more detail and not be as broad, add personal stories of your successes; sell yourself a bit.
