SOP for Management Sciences
The consistently emerging technology landscape always intrigues me to dig deep and analyse its impact on industries and business models. Working as a Consultant in the Energy, Natural Resources and Utilities domain, I realized how a simple interpretation and thoughtful usage of data can lead to benefiting the industry. My passion in the field of energy industry would be meaningful only if I am equipped to leverage technology to either improve efficiency and reduce our environmental footprint.
Finding myself well-heeled with numbers, I decided to study mathematics and science during secondary school. After securing distinction in higher secondary, I chose a challenging undergraduate course in Petroleum Engineering with the zeal to learn about the global economy driver. From the program, I gained a comprehensive knowledge about several core petroleum requisites along with management courses like Management in Hydrocarbon Industry. During industrial internship, I developed a 'field development plan' by software simulations, optimizing oil reserves recovery by 3%. Participation in debates and presentation competitions helped me learn to portray my point of view along with the ability to think quickly in high-pressure situations. With the alacrity to apply my technical knowledge to influence business processes, I chose to pursue a career in consulting.
An engineer turned consultant, I had the opportunity to make an impact while working for oil & gas majors, where the introduction of digitization and collaborative work environments (integration of people, process, and technology) led to faster and accurate decision making for their assets. I compiled my understanding of the technology adoptions by oil & gas industry over a decade in form of a technical paper, which I presented at ABC Conference. On grounds of my exceptional performance for client delivery and my passion in research, I was promoted to the position of Domain Consultant from Associate Consultant within two years of my stint at XYZ. My career has thus evolved from that of an engineer to a professional capable of understanding both technological and business developments.
My professional experience has taught me the importance of data analytics and optimization in the technological and business world. The Department of Management Sciences offers wide range of courses on analytical models, data science, and behavioural sciences, which will help me emerge as a leading consultant and create my own niche. Therefore, I consider Masters in Management Sciences as the most logical extension and an opportunity to broaden the horizon of my academic career.
The University of ABC is home to world-changing research and inspired teaching. The highly qualified faculty members and their research work in different fields has impressed me the most. The university is most famous for its co-op programs, which will allow me to integrate my education with applicable work experience. Such a platform to interact with globally diverse student community will prepare me to excel in a global arena. I thus look forward towards having a symbiotic relationship with the University of ABC.
