I am so happy to join the forum. :-) My statement of purpose is attached below. Please feel free to let me know all types of comments. Thank you!

I wish to state my interest in applying for Ph. D. program in innovation materials at the Department of Chemistry, University of XXX. My interest and passion for exploring the micro scale world of daily life lead me to my first research job in the university laboratory at the age of 19. It was what introduced me to advanced materials. Now, material R&D engineer is my current career and I am seeking Ph.D. position in composite material specially nanoparticle synthesis, and nano-device assembling with neutron facilities as my next material research career.

‎During my childhood my parents always encouraged me to study hard and keep my ‎mind severed from the existing difficulties. In my opinion, having a solid ‎knowledge of fundamentals was important to build profound ideas. Thus, I ‎tried hard to build a strong foundation in Chemistry and Biology during high school years. During my senior high school, I honored the award for Excellent in research because of high ranking in the scientific competition. The most important ‎of award is supported me to study science.

Because I have immersed in an innovation science education curriculum from my senior high school, it made me choose science education as a field of study. My undergraduate program was started in science education at the XXX University. In my ‎undergraduate years, I have acquired a strong background in the fundamentals of ‎basic chemistry and physical subjects such as organic chemistry, physical chemistry, mathematic for chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and physical. I graduated with a GPA ‎of XXX from 4.0. I was ranked eight from 37 in the Science education Department. During my university, XXX Foundation, I honored ‎several times because of getting good grades in my classes. To solid my research skill, I volunteered to do project with professor XXX at Center of XXX, XXX University. During my four successive years of studies, I worked with professor XXX to learn scanning probe microscopy focusing on micro scale world of daily life. The results were published at XXX conference in 2010. As is often said, journey to an unknown realm is infinite and arduous. However, my desires ‎fulfilled aspiration and the joy from discoveries prevailed over any sense of hardship. ‎My undergraduate program was as rewarding as great pleasure. ‎

To finish my education program, I interned in XXX Primary school with six months to be qualified. During internship, I acquainted with science education method. As an intern teacher, I applied navel and practical materials at my course to stimulate learning interests of primary students. Meanwhile, I further convinced that I prefer science research job.

To strengthen my material background, I decided to pursue master's degree. With entrance examination, I got an admission with a ranking of 4 from 200. During my graduate school, I delved ‎deeper into the fascinating world of material engineering and performed some ‎research in the field of crystallography, and mechanics of materials. Considering the fact that Taiwan is a country rich in export processing and subcontracting, I chose to concentrate on mechanics of Nickel-based alloy upon different force endured. In-situ neutron-diffraction is one of main facilities in my master thesis, "XXX thesis topic". This work was published in XXX international conference in 2012 and supported travel grant by XXX Foundation. Furthermore, the papers from this research were presented in 12th XXX conference and 7th XXX conference in Taiwan. During my master degree, I have been a teaching assistant for four semesters of chemical experiment because of my education background and working experience of research assistant. After I finished teaching assistant, I received Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award from 54 assistants in 2012. This award is recognizing my education and academic background. After obtaining the master's degree at Department of Chemical & Materials Engineering, I graduated with a GPA ‎of xxx from 4.0. Meanwhile, I got an admission of 16th XXX course at German from about 200 applicants. XXX course is a well-known lecture to know Neutron in the world. During this neutron school, I raised my horizon and impressed academia in Europe.

Creativeness and passion well up in me when I am at work. I have gained ‎specialized experience by working about two years as a R&D engineer at XXX in Taiwan. During this period I become completely accustomed to ‎touch technology from providing technical proposals for different processes such as photo lithography, laser etching, and screening and evolution alternative materials of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) film. Alternative materials can revolutionize the creation of wearable electronic devices to enhance the quality of life for human beings, due to the flexible feature of organic based materials. I believe that material is an important factor in technology. For this reason, I was inspired to choose organic and organic-inorganic composition materials as the recent topics of my study. During testing, I faced some challenges relating to the conductivity of silver nanowire (AgNW) films and pattern visibility of Poly(3,4 ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) films. To solve conductivity and pattern visibility issues, process modification is the first step. Nevertheless, problems still persisted, which was in material features. Thus I tested AgNW-PEDOT:PSS composited material to apply touch sensor, which showed stable conductivity and low pattern visibility. However, an ideal transparent conductor for visibly transparent must simultaneously have high transparency and low resistance while retaining the ease of processing. Hence, a fundamental question is how to trade-off the resistance and transmission (Rs-T) performance of metal nanowire. However, as a R&D engineer I realized that the industry's focus on efficiency and profit did not allow enough time for me to pursue a real solution. Therefore, I tested my samples by In-situ Synchrotron Radiation Small-angle X-Ray Scattering (SAXS) to study structural formation process in personal time. This research helps understand the formation of microstructure between interfaces and electron transfer.

This experience further solidified my belief that fundamental research is the right way to understand and evaluate a material. That is why I want to apply for the Ph. D position to pursue research to evaluate material. Because XXX is a world-leading research university specializing in Science & Technology, the university provides me with the most advanced educational tools available and the best opportunity to conduct research with cooperation from the industry. Moreover, I believe that as a Ph. D. student at XXX, I can synthesize the material that enhance the quality of life and benefit the human race. I would greatly enjoy and appreciate the ‎opportunity to do so at your institution. ‎

I think your background is pretty good, but it will be better if you add the importance of your previous and future research for people.
