After completing my Bachelor of Business Administration from North South University in Bangladesh, I joined as a Media Planning and Communication Executive in Maxus Global Limited, a leading media agency in Bangladesh. For the first time in my life I was confronted with such complicated and integrated work that a media & communication specialist does by nature. If one were to ask me that time what are my feelings toward my job, I would describe it very exciting and promising. At the very outset, I had difficult time to understand the complex media industry of Bangladesh and to communicate that complexity with my clients among which most of them were giant multinationals of the world. After initial disorientation, I gradually adapted to my exciting media planning and communication role. It became the role that I always wanted to play in my professional career. Now I am very much determined to be a valuable asset in this field. Therefore I realized I need a master of professional communication at Ryerson University which can help me to take my career where I want to see myself in nearest future.
I came from a family that highly values education. I have two brothers and two sisters. They are also highly educated and doing job. My elder brother is conducting our family business which is a construction business. If one were to ask my friends to describe me they would describe me as a very pleasant, diverse, active and motivated person. I am a man with technical aptitude and good observation power to the society and business. I have also passion for travelling and understanding different cultures of the world.
During my undergraduate studies over last four years, excellent course structure and highly concept based education helped me to gather business knowledge and to think out of the box. Besides regular class work, participating in depth discussion and case analysis was a regular feature in my university. Furthermore, in my undergraduate education, I have visited over top ten industries for gaining practical experience for various report work. I have enjoyed myself learning about the theory behind business applications and I have also enjoyed the experiences I have had with experimentation and research. I was also a regular participating member of North South University Earth club and have done volunteer work in different business event like Ad Maker and Battle of Mind.
I had two undergraduate courses named" Advertising" and "Business Communication" which are related to my job helped me a lot. The key role of my job responsibility includes, making media plan for Television, Press and Radio, making all sort of market and media analysis, ensuring proper exposure of brand in to the consumers mind, maintaining public relation, designing press release content which can prove my clients not only business purpose but also their maintained corporate social responsibilities, digital marketing, communicating with their regional and head quarters as I am directly responsible for their media investment. My major clients include Nestle Bangladesh Limited, hero Moto Corp, BSRM Steel which is a leading steel manufacturer in Bangladesh, Rohto Mentholethum and few others. My job at Maxus proved a defining experience. It served as a bridge which linked my academic knowledge with the larger world of reality where this knowledge is to be applied. It allowed me to see my strength as well as limitations. Above all, it reinforced my determination to seek more advanced academic training so that I can become not only a Media & Communication specialist but also a resource of Media & Communication that I always wanted to be since I started my career.
Ryerson University is acknowledged for its cutting-edge teaching and research in communication studies in the world. It offers a perfect blend of theoretical and practical knowledge like the research and internship opportunities which a student desire. Its diversified course offerings like the history of communication, document design and editing, Strategic media relations, Communication and legal issues, media language, research and internship and many more can only take me one step ahead in life .I certainly belief its interdisciplinary perspective can make me an expert and principled communication practitioners. I hope Ryerson will give me the opportunity to become a resource in Communication sector and if I get the opportunity to study at Ryerson when I will come back in Bangladesh after achieving my communication degree I am confident I can be more valuable resources which is my long term goal.
Mahmud, a word of advice regarding mentioning the university you are submitting this SOP to, don't do that. Don't mention any university names in your statement of purpose so that you can use the same purpose statement, with a little revisions to avoid self-plagiarism, when you apply for admission to other universities. That mere act will cut your essay writing time by more than half in the future. I would really consider it helpful towards your application if you remove all references to Ryerson in your essay. It will do your application well :-)

The most important factor in your experience now is proving that you have the professional , not academic background to qualify as a masters student. Prove the importance of the masters degree in your current and future profession. That should be part of the focus of your essay.

- The prior sentence is the best point at which to end your statement. It is a very strong commitment to make to your future and your profession. Don't mix Ryerson up in this. As I previously said, keeping the university name unknown can only help your essay.
At this point, I want you to further review your essay after applying the corrections I suggested. Look for other parts that can be deleted without affecting the purpose of the essay. You need to bring your word count down and make the essay more engaging and interesting in order to keep the reviewer interested in what you have to say. Right now, the essay is too wordy for comfort.
