Writing Feedback / Which is needed more: formal qualifications or practical skills to do the job better? [3]

pRACTICAL SKILLS versus THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE

IN TODAY'S JOB MARKET IT IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT TO HAVE PRACTICAL SKILLS THAN THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE. IN THE FUTURE, JOB APPLICANTS MAY NOT NEED ANY FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS.

TO WHAT EXTENT DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE?

Nowadays, in this high competitive world, people need to prepare the essential skills in order to seize as many opportunities as possible, especially in the working environment. It is suggested that there is no need for personnel to have formal qualifications in the near future because sufficient practical skills may surpass the need for academic knowledge. I must take issue with this point of view as the lack of theoretical background may hinder us from doing our best job.

Firstly, qualifications speak the volume of one's knowledge and ability to work, without them, employees may find it hard to complete the given tasks which reversely has negative influences on their work performance. For example, in order to fix a machine, a mechanic has to know the way it works inside out. Of course not having theoretical knowledge does not necessarily mean that we are limited in the every aspects of the work, but it is better to know the techniques and the reasoning of the whole thing. If we keep doing the job only by mimicking the predecessors or following our experience and the know-how, there will be no evolution or new ideas being made because we do not understand the the function of the system.

Secondly, if qualifications are to be abolished, the intellectual level of people will be degraded as well. No one will be willing to attend or pay for academic classes as the qualifications they receive are no longer useful for their future carrier. Therefore, millions of children might drop out of school despite the fact that educational environment is ideal for them to learn social skills and enlarge their horizons. They will only focus on obtaining experiences for the job they like and this might lead to the increasing amount in child labour which is the last thing that governors want to see in their future generation.

All things considered, the knowledge accumulated through books and teachers plays an important key in our life as we grow up as well as our work performances. Therefore, we should combine the two distinct approaches to learn and work in an appropriate way.

Writing Feedback / Ielts 1 - statistical information on the amount of flora and fauna extinction in tropical forests [2]

Topic: plant and animal

The line chart and bar chart provide statistical information on the amount of died out flora and fauna in tropical forests, per million species, in a period of more than 100 years and factors putting plant life in jeopardy. Generally speaking, human is the biggest contributor posing a threat to vegetation.

More specifically, starting at only under 5000 at the beginning of the period, extinct species experience a dramatic rise till 2060 when the figures are expected to peak at 50000 which is as much as 10 times higher than in 2000. The amount of extinctions falls steadily throughout the remaining period and seems set to continue. Agriculture has the most serious repercussion on plant life with the percentage of 18,7% which balances with the combination of natural disasters and other natural events( respectively at 7% and 11,7%). Plantations and invasive species each account for approximately 5%. This is almost 3 times lower than the second largest category: harvesting( about 14,4%) and half of the proportion of development( over 10%).

Writing Feedback / IELTS writing task 2: Bettering public health by the number of sport facilities or other measures [5]

I think you should try to expand your ideas to be more convincing. In body 1, you can give some examples of the dangerous consequences of sport injuries or of the reason it can be time-consuming. Please clarify the last sentence of the paragraph.

There are some grammar mistakes
verb tenses such as the reason which lead to; that increase
But can not be used at the beginning of the sentence
and there is a problem with last sentence of body 2, it should be instead of paying...
Good luck!

Writing Feedback / IELTS 2: Whether children should be taught to distinguish right and wrong. [3]

Hey!
I pretty much like your essay and the way you organize the ideas is good. However, if this is task 2 of an IELTS test, the amount of words is abundant and you may run out of time before you can finish your essay. In the last body, there is no need to give methods to punish kids as this is just an agree disagree opinion esssay

Gud luck!

Writing Feedback / Task 2 IELTS. Topic: LAW. Should defendant's criminal record be available in legal cases? [2]

full access to private information of a defendant

Under British and Australian laws a jury in a criminal case has no access to information about the defendant's past criminal record. This protects the person who is being accused of the crime.

Some lawyers have suggested that this practice should be changed and that a jury should be given all the past facts before they reach any decision about the case

Laws in Britain and Australia have not allowed a person's past conviction to be seen by the judges in order to give protection to the defendant while it is suggested that the criminal history should be on open display. I share my view with both opinions because it is important to respect the criminal's privacy but knowing the previous actions may help solve the case easier.

On the one hand, when a jury is given full access to such private information, there is a high tendency that the defendant may be sentenced too severely or let off with a warning, which he does not deserve. Say, for a person who is not new to committing crimes, the jury might be likely to make conclusions with prejudice according to his criminal record. Thus, he might not receive justice and feel disappointed about the deep-rooted opinions of the jury which could negatively affect his chance to turn over a new leaf.

On the other hand, giving the judges the right to approach the criminal history means less effort and time is needed to settle the legal case. Gathering evidences takes time and it is very challenging so the criminal record is a useful tool to impose accurate and appropriate punishment. There is a high chance for a person who is guilty of a certain crime to convict to the same crime again and if the judges has access to that valuable information, the investigation would be less time-consuming.

All things considered, both these protocols play a beneficial role in the judicial system. In my perspective, they should be followed according to the seriousness of the case in order for both the jury and defendant to have their own good.
