Graduate / Why business? GKS-G Personal Statement | GMBA ASPIRANT | [3]

Motivations with which you apply for this program

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Personal Statement:
Why business? It is one of the most common questions I get asked about my career and the life decisions I have made.
We're living in a world where new ideas are popping up all the time in different industries. Technology is also changing a lot. It's hard to stay up-to-date with market trends and new industry ideas in a field like business. I've always been curious about the world of fashion business since childhood and wanted to know how it works. The inspiration behind my deeply abiding interest in the fashion business comes from my mother. My mother used to make and decorate my festival dresses when I was young. I noticed and admired how skillfully she crafted them. She used to be a tailor, so she sewed lovely clothes and embroidered them with beautiful stonework. Not only did she inspire me with her style, but also with how she handles her household and work-life balance. She sacrificed her dream because of us, but she never let it perish; she was always learning and trying new things, and she was never a giver. Having known my mother since I was young, I found her a great leader who remained strong in the face of difficulties. This has made me an ambitious person who never gives up on her ambitions and works hard to achieve her goals. As I got older, my curiosity in Business grew even more. I want to learn the details of Business management, global marketing and development, exporting, importing, and fashion business. I want to use the knowledge I gain to further my career. Pursuing a Global MBA, my career goal, would give me the chance to start a successful fashion business.

I was born and raised in Chennai, the Southern State of India. I have four siblings, and I am the eldest one. Our parents were very supportive of our personal growth and encouraged us to get a good education despite the fact that they had very limited financial resources. My parents taught me the value of devotion and hard work in order to attain my ambitions. They taught me how to live life and make wise choices, even in the most uncertain situations. They taught me more than I could have learned from any book. I love them and they inspire me. As a result, I grew up to be highly mission-driven, rapidly analyzing and aligning the primary components needed to achieve a particular goal.

From my early school days, I was passionate about start-up business. I've got a vision of what I want to do with my life. This clarity made it easy for me to choose commerce as my middle school course and a Bachelor of Commerce as my bachelor's degree. I've always been academically excellent. I scored 96% in my 12th grade and was a merit student while pursuing my undergraduate degree at [Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women]. I graduated with First Class and was ranked in the top 20% of my college. During my undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to study various subjects like principles of management, financial accounting, business economics, marketing, entrepreneurship development, and many other subjects. I've always been inquisitive, and I've learned a lot from my teachers. They've answered so many questions I had and helped me to develop my academic abilities. This has allowed me to understand how the latest small and medium-scale businesses and technologies have developed. The well-structured curriculum at [JBAS College] is the main reason for my strong foundation in the fundamentals of Marketing and Business.

I've participated in plenty of competitions and bagged many awards. This includes being awarded the Merit Scholarship in High School (2015), winning the Student of the Year (EKALAVYA) award from Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (2016) from the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and many voluntary work certifications. I developed leadership qualities in my college days that helped me take ownership of multiple events and extracurricular functions. I did many volunteering activities, especially in the Enviro Club. From an early age, I have observed and studied how the environment is polluted by our negligence. I wanted to change this situation, so I started participating in environmental activities such as beach cleaning campaigns, tree planting, etc. At a camp event, we learned that plastic is a big problem that harms the environment, especially animals. So I decided to speak up on this issue and participated in several forums and camps. As secretary of the environmental club, I first started this camp at my college. I would like to thank all my team members for their support of me and invite people to join this protest and camp to let people know how dangerous it is to consume plastic unnecessarily. At first, not many people were interested, but after two years of hard work, our concerns finally reached the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and we explained all these issues to him. We wrote a letter to him stating all these issues. After a long period, he declared that everyone who purchased a plastic bag would be penalized. In addition, he even provided small plants for planting in schools and college campuses. It's one of the greatest things I've achieved with my team. We faced failures and learned a lot more from them. This was my first small contribution to society.

Once I had become a participant in these associations mentioned in my CV, they offered me a lot of community service activities to attend and serve as a volunteer. It was a great experience for me to have opportunities as a volunteer for such activities. I have learned many valuable thoughts and ideas and I have learned how to be well-organized in these kinds of organizations. I love challenges and I don't like to give them up easily, even if I don't succeed in completing them. I always find myself learning more by spending more time on those tasks. I am also confident that I can adapt to the new learning environment at university in South Korea.

This volunteer work not only at the Enviro Club gave me exposure to social issues like how plastics affect nature, but also at the Young Entrepreneur Forum and Consumer Rights Association. It gave me practical experience of avenues to develop skills and build connections, and it influenced me to start a business that will make a significant contribution to society and the environment and develop the country's economy. However, at that time, I didn't know about the sustainable fashion business. I just wanted to do a business that is helpful to people and helps save the environment.

Since high school, I have been interested in Business and I want to start my own start-up in the future, but I don't know how to start a business and manage it successfully. My Undergraduate academic, Entrepreneur Forum and Diploma in Women's Entrepreneurship experiences influenced me to hunt for new business opportunities and innovations. I got this opportunity to explore more about new start-ups from my work experience as a Business Development Manager in an R&H sports company, researching and conducting events, running tournaments, etc., which gave me knowledge and improved my leadership and communication skills. In my probationary periods, I didn't know much about marketing and I got nervous about interacting with customers. The Company Director played a major role in helping me to come up with my fear. He gave me complete autonomy to leverage my problem-solving skills to discover issues and find solutions. He always influenced me on how to start any business, what things to keep in mind, the challenges faced by an entrepreneur, how to build good terms with customers, and more. As it's a start-up company, I get to know many roles as an entrepreneur in business. I get inspired whenever I work for the company. While working in this profile, I was responsible for devising creative ideas, leading the team, and achieving the company's profit. As a team executive, I have to guide my team and achieve profit for the company. Even though I made mistakes, I also learned from those mistakes. There's a proverb "Failure is the mother of success". As a result, I came up with my fear, learned to calmly handle customers, and understood their needs.

There are many accomplishments I have achieved, but the biggest challenge was believing in my abilities. I am proud of what I have achieved in life so far. But I also learned that you have to work hard to be successful. For example, in the office, we were losing business and we were not getting customers. After brainstorming, I came up with the idea of starting a sports event for school students, like badminton, chess, etc. Initially, it was difficult for me and my team to handle and muster clients. As a start-up, it was a challenging task for us to build trust with customers. Despite this, I maintained a positive attitude and remained composed even when the situation became difficult. In 2020, the company hosted the first badminton tournament. With determination, my team and I completed the badminton tournament, which was a huge success with over 200 participants from all over India. We got great feedback from customers. There is a saying "Customer satisfaction is the best business strategy". As a result, I got an Employee of the Year award as an appreciation in 2021. This motivated me to continue those sports activities successfully. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I realized how the world is transforming everything online. Therefore, I have taken online courses like inbound marketing and digital marketing courses offered by the Google certification program and Hubspot academy and joined some entrepreneurs' Facebook groups to learn more about real-life small and medium-scale businesses.

I came up with the idea of starting an online contest during a pandemic, and it was also another big success, as we had already gained the trust of our customers. Most of them participated in our contest, and this time during the pandemic we achieved more than 50% profit. I found how important it is to learn about business in order to start a start-up and doing marketing is a crucial part of business.

Subsequently, the company expanded its online competitions to international audiences targeting small countries like Indonesia, etc., and we got a good response from them too. As a result, our company was growing internationally too, which proved to be a great achievement. Additionally, I have worked as a freelance graphic designer for clients in the United States and Australia, which has taught me how to handle international clients. However, I do not know much about the international market and the business world. I knew that I needed to develop these skills to better understand the situation so that I did not face any difficulties in the future. This experience has made me interested in Global Business, and it has also made me want to enter the professional world.

While working for the company, I encountered articles on "Sustainable fashion: what is it and what makes it so important?" and "How brands can take advantage of a sustainable fashion opportunity". These articles gave me a glimpse into the world of sustainable fashion and its growth. From this, my childhood passion for the fashion business came back. Finally, I decided which niche I would do my business in, and that was sustainable fashion. I started exploring the fashion market and learning more about sustainable business through YouTube videos and other online resources.

Since 2017, the fashion of K-drama and K-pop have been my interests. I love the culture of South Korea as it is similar to the culture of India. I started researching South Korea and noticed that not only India but also South Korea is more focused on sustainable fashion business. This inspired me to learn more about South Korea and its culture, traditions, business practices, and latest technology.

In my research, I discovered that South Korea ranks 8th in the World in the 2022 (IMD) International Institute for Management Development's World Digital Competition Ranking, and is a pioneer in sustainable material innovation in the fashion sector. It is also considered one of the fashion capitals of East Asia. The country's fashion style is characterized by expressiveness and individualism. This has attracted the attention of fashion lovers and eco-friendly consumers alike. In addition to fashion, South Korea passed a $30.7 billion incentive package to support its environmental objectives, such as renewable energy sources, energy-efficient buildings, and improved waste management.

In recent years, South Korea has led the way in sustainable fashion through creativity, innovation, and environmental awareness. Brands like Ki Lee, Saint Mill, PARTsParts, and Eclatto have made me even more curious to learn about this business by studying and living in the country.

So, I began learning in Korean language through the Korea Konnect and Learn Korean in India (LKI) programs. I also took part in various essay and quiz competitions sponsored by the Korean embassy in India, for which I did not qualify for the final round. However, these experiences enabled me to gain knowledge about South Korea's fashion, cuisine, art, and history, as well as its rapid growth through its strong educational system. I was also promoted as an ambassador of the Korea Konnect program, which allowed me to represent Korea to my Indian colleagues. This experience was a great one, as it gave me the pleasure of sharing knowledge with my peers and also helped me to increase my education level. My involvement in these competitions led me to become more aware of South Korea's successes, progress, and top-notch universities, which in turn motivated me to choose to study in South Korea for my higher education.

Although, I have worked in the Business domain for more than two years. There is still a gap in knowledge that I need to fulfill to start my company. I realized I need to develop my marketing and business analytics skills so that I can understand the situation better rather than face unexpected difficulties and reach the next big step is to get a master's degree. A Global MBA will make me more marketable as a professional. It will also help me to develop my business leadership abilities as well as build my professional network. After researching the differences between Indian and foreign education systems, I decided to choose an institution outside India.

One of the main reasons why I chose South Korea for my advanced studies is the quality of education provided by the academia. Being a business-friendly country, South Korea provides an industry-oriented education with a high focus on practical learning. Compared to other countries, the education costs are very affordable, and fully funded scholarships like GKS make international higher education affordable for students like me.

I have also found the country of the maple leaf to be very hospitable and safe for people of all nations and cultures. I am sure that living in Korea will be an adventure for me that will push me outside my comfort zone and expose me to new challenges that will be challenging at first but also exciting and rewarding in the long run.

I am seriously considering studying Global MBA in South Korea as I am eager to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge. I chose these universities because of their excellent faculty, academic track record, international student ratio, and environment. However, due to financial issues, my dream of getting an MBA in South Korea will not help me achieve my career goal. Therefore, I am thinking of applying for the GKS Scholarship. GKS is a complete package not only with the financial and living allowances, not also with the free tuition fee not only with the freedom to choose the universities as well as the course. It gives something more. How? It gives me the opportunity to create linkages with different nationalists living in South Korea. It gives me the opportunity to immerse myself in the Korean culture through the 1-year language program. It gave me the opportunity to familiarize myself with Korean culture by inviting me to study in South Korea. So these things are learning beyond the school and the GKS program is the only scholarship I can think of currently of the moment that can provide me with these scholarships. Although, there are other scholarships like Posco, Koica, and everything its linkage and then the number of opportunities I can see myself doing with GKS made me want to choose it. An MBA from South Korea with the prestigious GKS scholarship will provide me with the best academic knowledge and exposure.

If I am successful in winning admission to South Korea with a prestigious GKS scholarship, I will fully dedicate myself to my studies and in return for the academic excellence of the program, I believe I offer leadership qualities, international experience, and a desire to go further. I mainly focus on International Business, markets, and trends. The Global MBA degree will enhance my profile. It will also assist me in the future when I start my own business in India.

Thank you for your precious time and I request you to consider my application and allow me to study at South Korea's best University with a GKS scholarship.

Writing Feedback / Causes, effects and solutions in waste and rubbish pollution [4]

Apart from that, I can see that you used advanced vocabulary and the structure is good but as mentioned you will not get much time to write much try to convey your words in small and explainable. Also if you can use idoms here it will be even more good. if you are planning to score more.

Letters / LETTER OF MOTIVATION FOR MASTERS IN SUSTAINABLE FOREST AND NATURE MANAGEMENT [4]

plan

Hello, You wrote a good essay but it seems something is missing in your essay. Its motivational letter should answer why you chose this program, what you learned or experienced what you will contribute to society, and how this program will help you. This is what every university and program asks for. In my opinion, you answered why this major and what you gained explained a bit but you need to be more specific and tell them what your plans are also try to give some details about your thesis and also tell them why they should choose you and how their program will help you to achieve your goals. I know you have word limits but try to answer these questions and make it concise because the motivation letter tells about you so try to write according to it. Again I am not a professional but I just shared what I have experienced.

Graduate / Communication is essential - GKS-G | Language Study Plan | GMBA [2]

Language Study Plan:
Before coming to Korea: Communication is essential in this world. Every human being needs to communicate with each other. I grew up speaking English as a second language because it is used in schools and universities in India. I watched movies, novels, reality shows, and websites to learn English fluently, apart from what I was taught in my school and university. I also managed to score a band 7.0 on the IELTS test. I feel more comfortable using English than my native language, Hindi.

· I have always been interested in languages such as French, Arabic, Korean, and English. I have learned a decent amount of Korean, as well as a basic version of French and Arabic. It was difficult for me because I didn't have enough time due to my academic and work schedule, and there were no language institutes in my area that my family could afford. I devoted my time to learning Korean by using sites such as Korean101 and Talk To Mein Korean, as well as YouTube videos. I learned Hangul, commonly used grammar and vocabulary, and how to compose conversational sentences from these sites. In addition to these sites, I also picked up a large portion of my Korean by watching English-subbed Korean shows and dramas. It was fun and scholastic! I came to realize that my English is gradually getting better. I learned new vocabulary in the English subs, and then translated it into the Korean version.

· Later, I found out about the 'Korea Connection' Language Program in 2020. This program is 10 weeks of Korean Language and Culture. I learned the basics of Korean Language, Culture, Food, Fashion, and Events in Korea. It was fun and Educational. The program gave us lots of tasks to improve our Korean skills like quizzes, Poster-Making to represent the Culture of Korea, Cook Korean food and share it online, Recreating our Favorite Korean Drama, etc. With my native Korean Teacher and Korean friend, I was able to overcome my doubts about Grammar, Writing, Reading in Korea, GKS Scholarship, etc.

· I enrolled in LKI's (Learn Korean in India) Basic Intermediate three months Course in 2021. During this course, we used to speak Korean for 2-5 minutes every week, and did daily reading practice. I passed the course test with 89/100 marks! As I wasn't able to take the Topik test earlier because of pandemic, I didn't know my level of Korean fluency. I used to take mock tests to understand the language better. This course has helped me understand the language and taught how to speak Korean fluently. I have some knowledge of reading, writing, and speaking Korean, but I am not fluent yet.

· After a long wait, I finally took the TOPIK test in October 2023, and my TOPIK level was 1 with a 126 score. I also took TOPIK 2 to test my level, and I failed, but I still got 77 out of 120 marks to reach level 3. After taking the test, I realized that I could understand basic intermediate Korean as well, and if I do my best, I can achieve a higher level. So, I am again planning to take the TOPIK test in April 2024, and this time my goal is to get TOPIK level 3 or higher. Assuming that I pass Level 3 in 2024, I will look at and read academic papers related to business, especially the fashion market in Korea and consumer behavior. But if I don't achieve my goal, I will go to Korea and work hard to get Level 3 or higher.

· Even after this, I'm still trying to learn more Korean by listening to podcasts and sharing my knowledge through my YouTube channel "SK's Korean Class". I'm not fluent in intermediate-level Korean yet, so I'm sharing what I've learned on my YouTube channel. This helps me review my learning over and over again. I will continue to learn and improve my listening and speaking skills by talking to my Korean friends and teachers whom I met online through my "Korea Connect" program through video calls. To get used to Korean, I'll train myself by listening to non-subtitled Korean TV shows, dramas, and movies. I'll use different resources, such as books and the internet, to learn, read, and write in Korean.

After arriving in Korea: During my first year in Korea in 2024, I will focus on intermediate Korean, but I will not neglect my English. I aim to reach TOPIK Level 4 or higher by attending class regularly, interacting with friends and teachers, practicing TOPIK on the TOPIK website, reading academic journals correlated with my major in Korean, joining communities and organizing study groups with other beneficiaries of GKS, and exchanging cultures with them. As a group learner, I would like to meet great minds and make lifelong friends with them. I hope that I can be good enough to get close to them and worthy enough to learn from them. I will practice Korean alone for 4-5 hours daily (excluding academic hours). Learning Korean will help me appreciate the beauty of South Korea, its ancient culture, rich history, etc. At the end of my study, I will take the IELTS and Topik exams and aim for Band 9.0 and Topik level 4 or more.

· Once I get my TOPIK score, I will start preparing for my academic year by reading the course materials and doing research while immersing myself in a more academically and professionally oriented environment. During my Master's degree, I will continue to practice Korean even if I get a high Topik score. I will practice Korean so that I can become fluent and learn more about Korean business, people, etc., which will help me achieve my short- and long-term goals.

· I have successfully taught English and Korean on my own, which makes me self-confident. I will double the educational advantage of the scholarship. I am sure and 100% confident that if I study Korean and focus on Korean and English for the whole year, I will master it and learn it well. If I had the opportunity to receive a good education, I would double it. I would not only gain education and knowledge, but I would also gain experience from others.

· Studying in South Korea would open doors in terms of career options. The Korean language provided by GKS will also help me to know more about Korean culture and people, which will also help me achieve my dreams. I have been looking for many scholarships, but I never found a scholarship as good as GKS. This scholarship grant will equip me with the knowledge and skills I need to finally attain my goal of starting a sustainable Korean fashion business in India.

Undergraduate / "Fashion is who I am" - Fashion Institute of Technology Admissions Essay [3]

plan

Hi, you did good but for me, it seems like you are not answering the questions properly the FIT wants to know how perfect you are for the program what made you stand out among others, and also why you are into fashion. these are the questions, right? you did answer them but I think it is too general kind just add some specific things that you have like yeah everyone has creativity and everyone thinks themselves they are best fit for the program but try to show them with actions like I have this skill and I got this skill by doing this. For example, I have a creativity skill and I did work/internship/at a small boutique etc I gained this experience and it made me into this, etc. and showed them that I like fashion because of my passion your love to fashion, etc. even though you have your reason but try to add something which shows YOU. and for me, it seems like the first paragraph is bit talk about unnecessary things as I change from this music to this etc. you can talk to about it but make it small and instead talk more about your experience in the fashion industry and what you learn this will show the committee that yeah you are serious about the program.

If I sound rude or tough I apologize but this is just my opinion yeah. You wrote a good essay but need just some more information about your experience and so on.

All the best for your application.

Writing Feedback / Some children spend hours everyday on their smartphones. Reasons, positive or negative development? [3]

@hbcrosese
I think you should include some positive arguments about the use of smartphones by children, such as how it allows them to search for information and so on, since talking about both would give the impression of comparing things, so talking more about one would look bad.

Lastly, you need to work on your grammar, and I would recommend adding more advanced or intermediate words and phrases to get a high score on the test. However, don't add too many, just use relevant ones.

The conclusion can be a bit long, as it seems like you finished it in a hurry. However, you can add some more points.

Overall, I think your essay was well written, and you did mention the negative impacts of smartphones on children. However, you should focus on structure, and the things mentioned above.

Hope it helped you

All the best

Graduate / GKS-G 2024| Future Study Plan [2]

Hello everyone this is Future plan after graduation my long-term and short-term goals. Kindly please give me a review if its good or i need to change something.

I am going to apply for the Global MBA ~ GKS-G 2024

Thank you in advance~

*PLEASE DON'T CUT MY ESSAY I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO POST FOR A LONG TIME IT ALWAYS GETS CUT PLEASE DON'T EDIT AND CUT MY ESSAY SO THAT I WILL GET A FULL REVIEW*

Future Plan after Study:
Short-term goals:
During my studies, I will concentrate on finishing my Korean language course and attaining TOPIK level 4 or higher. I will also aim to complete my Master's course with all courses required and graduate with a top score and credits.

After completing my master's degree, I plan to take an internship at a Korean sustainable fashion company for one year. I can grasp Korean economic situations, new fashion trends, advanced marketing, industry, and culture to gain a thorough understanding of the Korean sustainable market and people's interest in Korean fashion. Moreover, I will also look for and expand my networks, which are necessary for building my own company. I will participate, look further into the Korean cultural activities, and find out how I can inculcate them into my life and express them in my country upon my return.

If possible, I would like to work at that company for 1 year after my internship, whether in Korea or abroad, to gain operational and strategic knowledge in running a multinational company and international business processes, as my company's future success will be dependent on its international growth and sales in overseas markets.

Long-term goals:
After working in South Korea for 2 years, I would like to build a sustainable fashion company with a blend of Indian and Korean culture and fashion, which I learned from South Korea. To achieve this, I will build an inclusive company that provides opportunities, is scalable and long-term, and directly addresses the social issues of pollution and economic development in India. I will also integrate Korean and Indian cultures into my company to promote the culture and heritage of both cultures. By doing this, I will create employment opportunities for the less fortunate families in my country and support the value of diversity and culture. I hope that my business will create a change in the fashion industry in both countries, and I can be that change-maker for today's generation and generations to come. I will apply my entrepreneurial skills to the next level, applying every detail I studied and experienced during my studies to grow my business. I will use hi-tech marketing, strategies to do online promotion, and knowledge from consumer psychology and behavior and international business courses to create the best experience for my customers and expand hubs internationally. Also, studying Korean and living for more than three years in South Korea will give me a deep understanding of the culture. This will help me build relationships with my team and customers.

When I go back to my country, I want to bring as much good as possible with me, use it there, and become a professional. I want to use my education and my management skills to help my country. I know that my country has everything it needs to be as good and prosperous as South Korea. South Korea has become a country with power, able to invest, create, and grow. It's something I want to bring home with me. That's why I want to get ready in the best way possible and learn as much as possible so that I can be productive at my best. There's no other way to do it than the best way.

In the next ten years, I will build a large-scale sustainable fashion business. I will grow the business in India, South Korea, and other countries. I will introduce Indo-Korean mixed cultures worldwide. I am passionate about reducing pollution in my surroundings. My sustainable fashion business is my contribution to society. The fashion market is the largest in the world. It is also the biggest cause of pollution in the environment. Many countries have started to take action against this pollution, including India. However, India still lacks expertise in producing and marketing sustainable fashion businesses from other countries. Therefore, I will create an innovative sustainable fashion business that will not only help the environment but will also reduce the cost of manufacturing and other expenses associated with the product. In this way, middle-class families will also be able to afford to purchase sustainable products. Thus, sustainable fashion will become casual and trendy among all generations. This will also contribute to the growth of India's economy. By importing and exporting sustainable fashion, I will be able to build friendly relations between India, South Korea, and other countries.

Studying and working in South Korea will equip me with innovative business skills, practical leadership skills, management skills, product innovation, and cost-effectiveness. I want to be a better leader. I want to learn from other leaders and network with them. Therefore, I want to continually improve my business skills by collaborating with other entrepreneurs and attending events held by business mentors to minimize risk and grow my business faster.

In conclusion, if I am selected for the Global Korea Scholarship, I am confident in my abilities, and I will make full use of the resources available to me, such as the library, and seek help from my professors. I will make friends with the senior graduate students in my department so I can get help and advice from them. I will do a lot of research, and I will attend all the lectures, conferences, and seminars required. I believe that hard work is the best way to succeed, so I will make the most of this opportunity to excel in this competitive field. I will also be fully involved with my university. I will take part in events, join clubs, and meet different people from different backgrounds. I will do this to build a large network of contacts that will help me broaden my perspective and view of the world. I am excited for this new chapter of my life, and I know that with your world-class academic program, top-notch faculty, and the perfect ambiance for learning, I'll be ready for whatever comes my way. I will work hard to prove that you chose the right student, and I will do my best to achieve that. I am positive GKS will help me with a good education and financial support, which I do not have in India.
