Writing Feedback / Well-being of pets (Quest in IELTS) [4]

1st IELTS score 7.5, 2nd IELTS score 5.5 please help me.

Quest in IELTS: Many keep pets in their home; however they do not take care of the well being of the pet animals. How can you keep the pets while attending their well being also. Discuss?

From time immemorial human beings trained animals and kept as pets for hunting, as messenger, security, for transportation and in order to get rescued. Dominent pet animals are Dogs, Cats, Horses, Birds, Horses, fishes etc. Often these animals are under captivity and are unattended therefore leading to an unconscious cruelty towards the animals.

Lack of technical knowledge about the animals habitat will leads the animal's life in a terrible risk. Particularly exotic animals of a different habitat required food of their own habitat. Lack of knowledge about their habitat will lead the animal into its slaughter house. Thought animals can be trained in the long run initially they have to be well treated.

Nowadays fish tanks are decorative items in most of the visiting rooms. Sometimes these fish tanks are becoming death chambers. Feeding habits, pH value, temperature, salinity are some of the remarkable reasons behind it.

Fishes are categorised as lower lying and upper lying fishes based on their movement in water. If the feeding has done only in the upper areas of the fish tank the lower lying fishes won't survive for long. PH value determines the acid alkali ratio of the water. Acid and alkali concentration also has to be taken into account and should be maintained. Temperature and salinity also plays a major role in the survival of fishes.

If properly attended pets will show its loyalty, gratitude and reciprocation towards their master. The lethargic attitude that human beings show towards their pets always threatens the animal's life. Vetenary doctors and trainers are guides to take care of the pets. Internet also provides vital information regarding the exotic breeds of animals and their habitats.

Writing Feedback / Quest in IELTS: Information provided in the internet can be reliable or trusted? [3]

Quest in IELTS: Internet is today a much sort after source of information; however the information may not be reliable as many writers in it are unknown, discuss?

In this modern world internet has got a major role in providing information of our day today life. Students and lectures consider it as an easy source of information provider. But how far these information provided can be reliable or trusted.

The veracity is that most of the information provided in the internet is under a commercial aim. Commercial organisation has twisted the information in their way to market their products in the modern market where people buy materials through e-commerce (elecroinic commerce) such as e-bay, paypal etc. Manipulation of information provided in the internet has a marketing motive which in-turn leads the younger generation in a wrong way.

Reliability of information provided in the internet depends upon the website provider. Encarta, encyclopaedia etc. provides valuable information which can be trusted since the authencity information provider has the full responsibility. Similarly websites providing valuable information can be trusted if the author takes the full responsibility of the information provided in the internet. Even though Wikipedia provides large information about various subjects, the information provided can be edited and recreated hence is not reliable.

Advice given the internet by layman cannot be trusted since it will have a counter culture motivation often have a marketing motive. Agony uncles & aunts also have similar aim to market their product. Majority of the quest in the agony column are related to beauty and skin. In order to market the product the commercial organisations bribe the answering person thereby we receive a wrong product.

In brief, the information provided in the internet cannot be trusted unless the author takes the full responsibility of the information. But the existence of internet is inevitable in the modern world as an easy source of information. Hence it depends on each person whether to accept or reject the information.

Writing Feedback / corporal punishments to students [6]

Quest in IELTS: In many countries corporal punishments is routinely given to the students while in some countries they are banned. What are the advantages and disadvantages of giving punishments to students?

Different cultures look punishment at different levels. Corporal punishment in schools varies according to their culture. Western schools are against corporal punishments whereas most of the oriental schools are in favour of corporal punishments in order to mould the younger generation.

Asian schools have a gurukul type of teaching which got influenced by their tradition. Asian culture of moulding a student's character and career requires canes to punish them if they are in a wrong way. Either curricular or co-curricular teachers have the responsibility to moulds a student's career as well as character. If children are not punished they will have a tendency to do the same mistake again and again on the other hand, advices or philosophy does not make any different in a child's mind. Famous experimentalist Mr. Pavlov once proved that animals shows a positive response when get punished. A student is unaware about the value of literacy and character formation.

In contrast, western countries such as America, Australia and Newzealand banned corporal punishment in schools. Europeans have no respect towards their hierarchy. Teachers and elders are considered as mere civilians. Respect for hierarchy plays a major role in moulding discipline. Lack of discipline and character formation can leads to anarchy. When there is no discipline in schools children will have their legs upon the desk and will hang around in the class while taking classes.

However punishment should have a limit. Punishment should be mild so that next time the student won't repeat the same mistake again and again. Instead punishment should not be harsh in order to show teachers hatred and vengeance towards the student which will have an adverse effect in student's career.

To conclude corporal punishments should be given to students with a motive correct them. Discipline, career, moreover character should be moulded in childhood itself for a better tomorrow.

Please help me.

Essays / How to start: 'Why public smoking should be banned" [5]

Hai campell,

'Smoking to be banned in public places' is a much contentious topic these days, with almost no conclusions coming at the end. While the smokers continue to smoke in public places, the non-smoker continue to show their disgust and revulsion. Though everyone has a right to live freely in this world, he/she is not permitted to cause harm to other people. It has become practically impossible to refrain oneself from getting a second hand exposure to the smoke stench. Right from the bars and discos to simply walking on the road, everywhere a non-smoker is exposed to smoking.

It is very annoying to be surrounded by the smoke smell. It has been noted that passive smoking is much more dangerous than active smoking, because in the former case, you inhale the smoke emitted out by a smoker. Designated areas, allotted for the smoker to go and smoke, in a public place would be advantageous for both the smoker as well as the non smoker. While a smoker can freely smoke at the smoking zone, the non smoker will be able to relax, without worrying about the stench, smoke or harmful side effects.

Writing Feedback / New generation no more read books. Is this complaint true? [4]

Quest in IELTS: There is a complaint that new generation no more read books. Is this complaint true and if it is true what are the reasons which resulted in the decreasing tendency in reading books?

Gone are those days we depended on bundle bind books for reading. Technology has come up with new ways of reading books. New generation does not have time to visit a public library to select a book they required. Magazines, journals, novels are now available in their finger tips.

Internet reading is so popular nowadays. Hard copies of books are not required instead CD's, e-books, e-magazines published their soft copies in the internet which are easily accessible. The soft copy can be downloaded and will be available in the system if required. Shakespeare's plays, Holy Bible, epics of Indian culture, magazines, journals, dictionaries, novels in different languages are available in a matter of seconds. Hence researches in various fields are easily possible by entering the key words. The old way of reading the contents and bibliography gone by the inversion of technology.

In past reading is more like entertainment in order to kill time. Spend a major part of the day sitting in the library and reading books with a motive of passing time. Modern man has enormous ways of entertainment. More social opportunities are available such as social sites, you tube, new released movies, share broking via internet. So spending time in library does not make any sense. Nowadays modern libraries depend on technologies to cop-up with moderns man's needs. Libraries are equipped with CD-ROMs and other soft copies of various books. The old concept of library only with books and news paper has been changed

Even though technology has developed so far most of the information's provided are aesthetic. The veracity is that most of the information provided in the internet is under a commercial aim. Plagiarism also has shown a drawback in the technological advancement.

In brief, we are living in a technological driven world. Hence the new generation has changed the form of reading from hard copies to the soft copies whereby time can be saved.

Writing Feedback / IELTS Whether country needs to develop its traditional skills, arts and way of life? [4]

Quest in IELTS: When a country develops its technology traditional skills, arts, crafts and way of life likely to die. There is no point in trying to preserve it. Do you agree or disagree with this view?

Modern culture is a consumeristic one and does not have interest in skills, arts, crafts and way of life. People show keen interest in latest form of technology. Due to urbanisation, weaving pattern, coir industry, ayurvedic medicines, joint family system likely to disappear. Social aspects have changed the traditional skill forms.

Traditional skills the age old method of doing things have been perfected by its useful usage from generation to generation. It links the past and the present in a rather scientific way. By reviving traditional skills we can maintain a balance between the technology and tradition. Arts and crafts are symbols of our aggrarian economy. Al though the modern technology has brought tractors and trillers in order to plough the fields the traditional way of ploughing the field using cattle is the symbol of Federal Bank. A good blend of traditional skill and technology will only do good in the long run. Even though the advancement in medical fields such as preventive medicines, scanning, keyhole surgery and laser treatment have benefited mankind, our traditional ayurvedic medicine has a significant role in modern man's life.

Technology has played its own role to retain tradition and conventional way of life. Kottakal Arya Vaydiya Sala has developed a unique way of modernising the equipments and retaining the old traditional medicines. Our vastushilpa and traditional bamboo ply has marked a impact in this modern world. Ancient manuscripts and archaeological treasures and art have been restored to its former glory with the help of technology. Old forms of music, photographs, books etc have been revived with the help of modern technology.

To sum up, I would like to assert that we should make a right balance between technology and tradition. Mankind will only gain with by reviving the traditional skills. We must have a well balance view to reap the benefits of both, for both have t heir own positive and negative aspects.
