Undergraduate / 'famous for its English and Humanities' - Why Hamilton College? [3]

Hamilton College is famous for its English and Humanities. I have been looking forward to receiving a fine education typically in that area since my dream I wanted to pursue was to be a journalist for National Geography magazine. I believe that journalists own their pen as a magical mirror which reflects the real world to the readers, in order to remind, to teach and to warn. Also, I am aware of the fact that the 21st century requires the skill of being able to speak. The ability to speak in this context means to speak up, for ourselves, as well as for people living around us, who may need our loud and clear voices. If I can be luckily enrolled in Hamilton, I am sure I will benefit greatly in the next 4 years.

Another important reason why I made the decision to apply for Hamilton is because of the friendly and intensive study atmosphere. As far as I know, Hamilton College's 1800 students enjoy a small campus community that helps students create close relationships. To be a part of this pleasant and outstanding community is very attractive for me. Instead of choosing to be squeezed in the corner of a lecture room by other 1427 students in some public school, where you can hardly hear what the professor is talking about at the front, the 10-1 student/faculty ratio confirms my determination of studying in Hamilton College.

This above is only 1300 characters. I am still working hard on it! Feedbacks please...I really don't hav much time left... THANKYOU GUYS!~

Undergraduate / U of Illinois application essay (the local church worship team in Korea) [3]

I am not sure..but hav you exceeded 300 word limit??

Well, if you still have some room, I guess you really need to show us readers the CHANGE: How did your shyness vanish? ...'cause I think this is something you need to elaborate more on.

This is only my personal opinion, though.
Good luck!

Undergraduate / UIUC Essay #2: Being a chief designer...... [2]

In an essay of 300 words or less, choose one extra curricular activity, work experience, or community service project from the list you provided on the application and explain why you initially chose it, why you continued with it, and how you benefit from it.

I have always wanted to become a designer, because designers have such freedom on their canvases and no boundaries. Any successful designer always brings us an innovative and creative world filled with inspirational ideas. I had never doubted my perspective regarding the designers' job until I had a practice try myself over the winter break last year.

I made a big step forward on the pathway of pursuing my dream of being a designer on the day I was selected to be the chief designer of the Student Diary Club 2008-2009 in my school. Sooner than I expected, my first hesitation came in when I realized that the designers' canvas does have certain boundaries. For example, even though I was the chief designer, I still had to consult the diary's cover page design idea with the school's senior management. My design got rejected by the school principal three times in total, which put me into a discouraged and frustrated state for quite a while. Fortunately, I was working with a student team that prevented me from feeling lonely or unassisted. Over and over again, we eventually came up with a design which both we and the school management were happy about. Duly, I overcame the obstacles on my pathway to the final edition of the student diary for printing.

After all, I understood that to become an eligible designer not only requires the professional knowledge and original thoughts, but also the ability to negotiate as well. Nowadays, a clear canvas might be promising, but an unlimited size of canvas is impractical. I believe, if the pencil is requisite for all designers, then negotiation acts like an eraser on designers' career canvas.

ANY COMMENTS WILL BE APPRECIATED...THANK YOU.
