Scholarship / Create a new concept for payment - Networking Chevening [4]
Hello, I'm preparing an essay for Chevening and I need feedback on my essay.

When I was a product developer in the X, I was responsible for creating new products or improving existing products. I have been involved in several projects, and each project involved many stakeholders, both internal and external. Therefore, I continue to maintain good professional relationships with colleagues from various departments and business partners.
In 2016, I had the idea to develop and introduce ways to use NFC for payments, but I don't know where to start because this was entirely new in here. So, I contacted all of my colleagues from other divisions to get feedback through the social media group that I have created.
Luckily, I got a lot of feedback and help from my colleagues about this project, and one of them invited me to a seminar that held by XX in May 2016. She introduced me to the account manager of XX, and we discussed a lot about my idea. After several meetings, she invited me to a workshop that held by XX which focused on digital payment development in my country. I met with the XX Business Development manager who explained SOAP (name of a system) to me, and I also met some professionals who had backgrounds in fin-tech. SOAP is a digital service to support transactions using NFC by storing customer information data on cloud servers. From this point, I got new perspectives and put my ideas into a concept. I was interested in SOAP, and I invited him to make a presentation to my manager and Dept Head in my Division to explore the possibilities of collaboration.
Days later, the management board agreed to collaborate with XX, and I immediately prepared the Business Requirement Design (BRD) and the feasibility study. Then I invited other related divisions to participate in this project from planning, development to launch. Unfortunately, based on our calculation, this project took approximately 1 year to develop, and they advised me to look for other alternatives. and the words of my acquaintance from the XX division advised me to assess the possibility of opening a partnership with SamsungPay.
In short, I met with the service and content manager of Samsung and invited him to discuss the possibility of collaborating with SamsungPay. In 2016, SamsungPay had not been launched in my country, so there was no SamsungPay representative in here. So, I asked him to invite SamsungPay representatives from Korea, and I arranged a meeting with the Vice President of my company. After meetings and workshops were held, I completed all the BRD for the projects and proposed it to the management. Finally, the board of management agreed and made it a "2017 Strategic Initiative".
If I am chosen as a Chevening Awardee, I will use the opportunity given to broadening my network with people from various backgrounds and use my professional expertise to improve the collaboration with the Chevening alumni, its scholars and or on a broader scope to support cooperation between the UK and my country.

Hi, if I may give advice. In my opinion, your essay does not adequately describe your leadership, and you should be able to explain more about your duties and obligations in the project being worked on.
And don't forget to show how you influence other people to achieve common goals. Focus on these two things. I'm sure you can explain that

After completing my master's degree in the UK, I will return to Indonesia and continue my career as a financial advisor at X. One of my goals is to help my company improve our services through innovation using technology. So that it can provide comfort, convenience and security in conducting financial activities to customers, both internal and external customers. I want to contribute to my company through improving services that can be done through simplification, automation, and digitalization of current business processes. So, the company can achieve efficiency in all aspects and remain competitive in the technology era. On the other hand, our external customers remain loyal and give their trust because of our excellent services.
Since I applied for the future leaders' development programs, I have no choice but to go where the company wants me to be assigned. But, this Master's degree will help me to become a specialist in my field. During approximately 4 years of working, I got three times job promotion. Therefore, I am confident that I can apply the knowledge and skills I get in the UK for the benefit of my environment and to boost my career in the long run.
Furthermore, in the long-term, I want to run my own company engaged in the financial technology industry, especially the investment industry. I want to contribute to my home country to increase public awareness of financial literacy. As is well known, demographics in Indonesia are diverse and unique, and this makes financial literacy in Indonesia uneven. Based on data from the Indonesian Financial Services Authority, in 2017, only 29% of the public has an understanding of financial literacy. There is a considerable gap, and I hope by educating the people about investment could cut the difference and push the financial literacy in my country.
With digital developments, I will create banking products that make it easier for people to access financial services, especially in investment services such as investments in bonds, or mutual funds. This digital banking product is a good method for introducing and encouraging an investment culture in Indonesia. In addition, I think this is the right way to support government financial inclusion programs.
The British Government has always been a strategic partner for Indonesia, with several DFID programs in Indonesia. One of DFID's programs is to promote economic development in Indonesia through the development of Rupiah debt market capital. I want to liaise and directly support the British government's program in educating the public about investment instruments by joining surveys or research to get the valid data regarding the current social issues and Indonesia's demographics uniqueness. So this project can identify and solve the problem comprehensively and make recommendations through the roadmap to enhance the rupiah debt capital market (Phase II). Also, I want to collaborate with Chevening Alumni Asociation Indonesia to discuss and share ideas to support projects between the UK and Indonesia in the future.

Technology and the internet are making a significant shift in the financial industry. It makes the digital 4.0 revolution will happen soon in a matter of few years or even months. This program not only teaches how innovation management works but also how to market products in the digital age. I realise that the User interface and User Experience are one of the easiest ways to sell a product. I can use this knowledge to make product concepts that are suitable for millennials. Because in the next 5 or 10 years, the most significant market share is the millennial generation.

I am always curious about how to make good product design and research analysis. This program offers tools on how to efficiently design new products or improve existing products.
