Writing Feedback / Task 2 ielts - Different views about what top priorities of our government should be [3]

Many governments think that economic progress is their most important goal.

Some people, however, think that other types of progress are equally important for a country. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

People have different views about what top priorities of our government should be. Although some politicians claim that economic growth is undoubtedly most essential, I believe that other issues could be more crucial to our homeland and therefore deserve our attention.

On the one hand, economic progress is pivotal to the success of a country. With thriving markets and advancing economy, the government can secure reliable tax funds for supporting projects of infrastructure and public services, providing good standards of living to citizens. For example, in highly-developed countries, such as USA, the UK, Japan etc., people not only lead a rich and comfortable life but also have better education and welfare systems than those in the impoverished areas of the world. Furthermore, a nation with strong economy can come to prominence on the global stage, exerting its political influence and trade power.

However, although many wealthy countries already have gained great economic success, yet their people are still suffering from a variety of social and environmental crises. Even in advanced regions, racial and sexual discrimination, industrial pollution and political corruption are widespread nowadays. Economic progress should not be the only vision of governments. Instead, the success of a nation must also be considered with the areas of social justice, human rights and resource conversation. How well the governments preserve our natural environment and how they value opinions from several minority groups will benefit not only us but also our next generations.

In conclusion, upholding economic development is indispensable duty of our government, but not the sole central task they should focus on. The prosperity of a country will not be improved without the support of a stable society, better political conditions, and a sustainable environment.

Writing Feedback / IELTS Task 2: Environment - Problems and Solutions [4]

In my opinion, I suggest in the begining of second paragraph, you can directly put that how human damage the environment instead of the reasons.

I mean simply change the order of your sentences, which would make you writing clearer.

Writing Feedback / Should young people have the obligation to volunteer for community service when they are available? [4]

Some people think that all teenagers should be required to do unpaid work in their free time to help the local community. They believe this would benefit both the individual teenager and society as a whole.

Do you agree or disagree?

Many believe that young people have obligation to volunteer for community service when they are available, which would eventually bring advantages to both the single and the whole society. However, I disagree that we should compel all teenagers to do charitable work.

Most teenagers are students, who have been already under great pressure with their studies. In school, they have many subjects and skills to learn; even after school, they also need to do a lot of homework and practice exercises for exams, let alone some of them have to go to part-time work in order to share household expenses of their families. When young people do have some free time, we should let them relax themselves, or encourage them to explore and develop their own interests. In short, I think their priorities should be their studies and make good preparations for their future life.

At the same time, I have my doubts that our society can gain anything from obliging young people to do unpaid work. If people do good deeds not from the bottom of their hearts, it loses its meaning.

This not only goes against the values of a free and fair security but also leads to resentment amongst young people, who would feel that they are just used. We should inspire them to help others willingly, instead of forcing them by moral coercion.

In conclusion, it is wrong that making it mandatory for all teenagers to do unpaid work in their leisure time, and in my opinion they have rights to choose whether they want to do it or not.
