Writing Feedback / Write a paragraph about the differences between the city in the past and now. [3]

Write a paragraph about the differences between the city in the past and now.

With Technology advancements and the increasing numbers of people, almost everything is continuously changing; few are the things that remained unchanged. The cities in which we live now are not the same as the cities that people used to live in 50 years ago. In the past, for example, there weren't a lot of buildings, there were just small buildings consisting of few floors. Crossing streets wouldn't take you a long time because of the passing cars. Public transportation was used by many people. In the past, green areas took most of the cities' territory. There were a lot of parks, green lands, open areas and playgrounds which played an important role for the city environment. However, cities now are not like they used to be. High buildings as well as the old low ones are everywhere consisting of office blocks, apartments, companies, schools and universities. The big number of vehicles is increasing every day. Private cars are parked here and there. We see green areas only within housing estates and residencies in additions to parks, squares and avenues. So, cities now seem very different from the cities in the past.

One of the most important cities and tourist attractions in Syria is Latakia. Latakia is a summer resort for all of the people of Syria, and also people from other countries. The city has many hotels, restaurant and cafes situated near the beach, which attract a lot of people who spend their holidays there, to enjoy the swimming and sailing. Aleppo is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in history. It is famous for its architecture, for its attractive churches, mosques, tombs and baths. It is also famous for its ancient citadel with medieval fortress, the great Umayyad mosque, and the extraordinary souqs (bazaars) with every kind of article for sale. Latakia is the city of beauty and nature. There are a lot of sceneries in Latakia that take your breath away. On the other hand, Aleppo is full of historic sites and it is very famous for its attractive architecture. Writing Feedback / TOEFL eassy- it is easier to succeed nowadays than in the past. agree or not? [4]

You went very far in in history, I don't think this is what this topic about.

In ancient history I dont think that there were TOFEL tests.

The topic is about TOFEL tests now and 20 or 30 years ago and may be more.

Your ideas should be relevant to the topic you are writing about.

Writing Feedback / "a merchant in the year 1000 CE" - a diary on the silk road [4]

You are a merchant in the year 1000 CE going from your hometown to china on the Silk Road. Write a diary for a day on your journey.

My first trip on the Silk Road to China was a memorable one. It was a long journey to go through but I looked forward to it with great anticipation. We set off from Egypt. Our camels were loaded with a wide variety of goods such as pottery, gold, silver, ivory, precious stones, glass bottles and other expensive and desirable goods. The Silk Road extends from the Mediterranean region through Egypt, Persia and other areas until it reaches China. In reality there was no fixed road, but only a series of tracks that ran through steppe and desert. There were many oases that offered sustenance to the traveler. On my way to China, I could see a lot of amazing places that I had never had the chance to see, like Samarkand which is one of the oldest cities in the world and Bukhara which is considered to be one of the holiest cities in the Islamic world. There are still many sites of interest. One example is the Kalyan Minaret which was one of the tallest minarets in the Islamic world. The Kalyan Minaret is Bukhara's most prominent landmark. There were so many places to see and we need such a long time to compete our journey. In fact, I was immersed in the mystery and the magic of the Silk Road as a result of travelling to the exotic places which I had never been to before and which I will never forget.
