Hi, can someone help me go through my essay?

Topic: Only formal examinations,written or practical, can give a clear pictue of students' true knowledge and ability at university level.Continuous assessment like course work and projects are poor measures of student ability.

How far do you agree with this latter statement?

Evaluation and grading are part of today's education system. Assessment, either in sumative form or formative form is very important to evaluate how well and how far a student has progress. There are many forms of assessment, for instance, examination, writing task, practical training, course work and project and i believe that all these assessments have its own function in measuring students' ability.

Formative form of assessment, such as course work and project are important and this kind of continuous assessment is able to evaluate students' performance throughout a period of time. During the allocate period, teachers are able to observe students' progression and able to identify students' weaknessess. By doing so, it would be very helpful for a teacher to guide and help the students based on their weaknessess.

Besides that, i believe that different types of assessment able to evaluate different types of ability. No doubt that final examination able to evaluate, in general, what the students have accomplished after one whole semester, but, what if the students gain low marks. The teachers are able to identify that these students do not really understand the subject in overall. The question is; Which part of the subject that the students are weak in? The teachers would not be able to guide and help the students particularly.

In conlusion, I strongly disagree that continuous assessment is a poor measures of students' ability. Instead, all form of assessments are very crucial and necessary to develop a knowledgeable and good student in all perspective. I believe that the combination of formative and sumative forms of assessment would be able to build a good future leader.

My topic is "Some people believe that visitors to other countries should follow local customs and behaviour. Others disagree and think that the host country should welcome cultural diferences. discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Nowadays, travelling is made easy with the advancement of technology. Distance and time are no longer an issue to a traveller. A visitor has his or her own reason for travelling to other countries. Though, whatever reasons that lied behind, one's should adapt themself wherever they are. In my opinion, as a visitor, we must respect other countries' tradition and behaviour. Concurrently, the host country should respects the visitors too as far as religion is concerned.

Every country has their own uniqueness and that is what make one country differs from another. In addition, this uniqueness is also the reason that attract visitors. Malaysia, for instance, is a multiracial and multicultural country which consists of three main ethnics namely Malay, Chinese and Indian. Even though these ethnics are different in almost every aspect such as language, religion and food but they can live harmony and peacefully. The key for this success is respectation. Therefore, in my opinion, a visitor should accept one's country custom and behaviour and take this as an opportunity to get exposure and learn other country's culture without losing own identity.

The host country, on the other hand, should respect and welcome cultural differences as long as this culture does not overlap the religion abstinence and if it does not bring negative influences to the country. In order to attract more visitors to the country, facilities is very important. For instance, the authority should provides holy places such as mosque for Islamic, church for Christians and temple for Buddhist. Besides that, in terms of food, the authority should encourage the residents to vary the types of food such as 'halal' food for Islamic visitors. I believe that, by doing so, people around the world will respect each other.

In conclusion, no matter where we are or where we go, respectation should be part of our life. As in Chinese saying, 'we gained respect if we respect others' and that is the key in dealing with cultural differences.

The topic of my essay is "Many people believe that teachers should teach students how to judge right from wrong and how to behave, while others think they should just teach academic subjects. What is your opinion?"

Teaching is a process of transferring information and knowledge from one person to another. A good teacher should not solely teaches academic subjects but to develop a knowledgeable person with high moral values. Thus, in my opinion, a teacher should teaches an academic subjects and at the same time instills moral values.

Firstly, teaching the assigned subjects is the responsibility and core business of a teacher. From the past to nowadays, this profession is made to educate and equip the next generation with knowledge and all sorts of information, for instance, calculations, sciences and languages in order for them to face the challenge of life in future. Because of this, teachers should teach academic subjects.

Secondly, moral values are inseperatable from human life and these moral values are instilled in every students indirectly. In real life, students are taught, for examples, to greet, to speak and to ask permission politely and courteuosly. In addition, a teacher would always advice and enlighten students with disciplinary problems so that these students could be a better person in future. Therefore, teachers should teach students to have correct judgement and to behave.

In conclusion, teachers play a vital role in developing the next generation. Without a doubt, a teacher should not only focussing on teaching an academic subjects but to build a high-moral student for the sake of future development and harmonious.
