Flipping Useless Land into a Parking Lot
Have you ever made a deliberate decision? Was it taken by consensus? Quick-daily decisions are easy to make, unlike consensus decisions such as in politics. Dearborn has useless land that we can take advantage of, and make out of it something. The dispute is what type of construction should it be? Erecting a parking lot in Dearborn near downtown will benefit us, Dearborn Residents, and Dearborn visitors as well. Constructing a parking lot is the best decision for three reasons.

First, lack of parking makes the place less desirable to be visited. There are not enough parking lots in downtown of Dearborn. Civil Engineers say, "The parking lot land should be bigger than the main building." Every building in downtown should have built a parking lot since they were built. Lack of land and due to converged infrastructure in downtown, we cannot build parking lot in downtown now. We have to use the land for a parking lot. Public parking lot in downtown is not free which affects negatively the number of visitors to downtown. And that affects the economy. With an available parking lot, visitors will like to visit downtown very often which increase the economy for the downtown.

Second, everyone loves his/her car as much they loved the money they paid for. Every person needs a safe place for his/her car, and there is no place safer than a parking lot. A parking lot has cameras everywhere in case something happens. With this technology, theft has decreased. Sometimes people park their cars on the street without knowing if the place is for parking or not, which causes them to be worried about the police and tickets. Besides being a safe place, it can be an easy place to find the car due to the numbers and the letters that direct the drivers to their cars. A parking lot is a safe and an easy place for cars.

Finally, a parking lot will decrease the traffic in downtown which will decrease the accidents and the troubles as well. People will not need to park their vehicles on the streets. Because of the parking lot, people will not have to drive through downtown. They will just park their cars and walk to where they desire. This will decrease the numbers of cars in downtown plus it will make these people walk which is great for health. Decreasing traffic in downtown is not easy, but with the parking lot, it is possible

Some people may think the land is supposed to be a shopping center or a park. There are so many shopping centers in Dearborn, plus there are some in the downtown itself. It should not be a park either because we have more than two parks near to downtown. In addition, a shopping center and a park need parking too. No matter what kind of construction it is, it needs a parking lot, so the parking lot is the most logical construction to be built on the land.

In conclusion, there are many facts and reasons that people should consider, so they can see how well the downtown can be better developed. Downtown will be a great place to go, visit, and enjoy the restaurants, shopping centers, cafes, salons, and parks. The city council should take a stand and take advantage of that piece of land, making it a parking lot, so the society can benefit from it

A Scholarship to China

Have you ever received a call and your mind had gone blank for a moment? I was one of the honor students in my country; I was the fourth best student in republic of Yemen in civil Engineering Field. I have worked so hard in these two years, and they are the best two years I have ever lived in my whole life. I got thanked and awarded many times during the two years I was studying civil engineering in the Academic Technical Institute. As the time I was nominated to be the leader of the graduation project group, I had known that my successful life had just began.

I worked as a leader hard to the point I did not have enough sleep those nights. I planned how we were supposed to do and finish our project before the due date. Professors said we are in group to learn and share ideas with each other, but I did not have a hard-work group, because I did not get enough help form them. So I had to do the whole work myself. I designed, planned, drew, and asked for help by myself. At the end we, the group, handed over our project to the professors, and I felt proud because I did the most work.

Professors and we discussed the project, benefit of it and how we did it. Because I did the most talking and I answered the most of the questions, the professors noticed that I am the one who designed it. They gave me the best grade ever, and they told me," This construction will be for real one day, because its well planed and designed." They did not put it in the academic's archive as the other ones; they took it to the Ministry of Public Works and Highways, and handed it to them. Two months later I got a call from the principal.

He congratulated me and thanked me about how well I did during the two years. He said,'' You are the best student in the academic and you got high grades too. I felt so proud of myself. "I am awarding you a scholarship," he said.

Being a warded is not easy at all, but I always dreamed of having a scholar ship. He said that I graduated, and I am the fourth best student in republic of Yemen. The government decided to give me a scholarship to china. At that moment my mind went blank; I stopped thinking talking or anything because of the happiness.

I thanked him so much, but he said you are the one who is supposed to be thanked due to your hard work. I cannot forget that day and I am sure that I can do better in the U.S.A. I did not accept the scholarship due to my circumstances, but I will have a better chance here and I will accept it.

Effects of Working and Studying at the Same Time
Have you ever worked and studied full-time at the same time? If you have, have you achieved success in either? Absolutely, the answer is no. Taking classes full-time while working a full-time job is daunting; however, it sounds a challenge, so many people try it, but they cannot because it ruins their lives. Multitasking has negative consequences: bad social life, lack of sleep, and tight timetable.

All the things we do in life are to improve the way we live. We study, work, play sports, and make choices just to have a better social life. People who challenge themselves to work and study full-time will end up with a very bad social life especially those who are ESL students because of their English barrier. They will not have the time to be around their families and friends. They will not have time for themselves too. They will not be able to do the activities they used to do such as: playing sports, hanging out, partying, or even shopping. Their lives will be routine as living in a circle, waking up, going to school, going to work, coming back home, doing homework, sleeping, waking up, going to school, and so on. They will live in a circle which will cause them to hate their lives.

Lack of sleep is the biggest problem that working college students experience. They work eight or more hours a day, come back home, spend four or more hours doing schoolwork, and then they try to sleep for three or fewer hours a day. Doing this every single day will harm their health and their brain. Lack of sleep is the major cause of heart disease and high blood pressure. It kills the mood too. Working students will be having bad headaches and tiredness all the time. They will be having bad moods even talk to their families and friends. Lack of sleep impairs attention and thinking. Plus working students will not be able to comprehend easily. They will be all the time in bad mood, under stress, and in extremely bad health.

The most important thing in life we have is time: without maintaining it, life will not exist. Studying and working at the same time will burn your time and will make you busy all the time to the point you will not feel yourself to be living. It will make you busy all the time; thus, it will also be a complicated duty; to control school and work. For example, suppose you have some tests and a lot of homework, so you will have to skip some classes and take some days off work so you can study and do schoolwork. Sometimes you will have to skip classes because you didn't have chance to do the homework. Other times you will skip classes because you have a test and you didn't study for it. Working students get fired because they try to take advantage of their free minutes at work to do schoolwork. So lack of time will ruin both of them and you will not succeed on either one.

Working and studying at the same time can miss up your social life, your health, and your time. Even managing your time and putting in a lot of effort to accomplish priorities, yet taking classes full-time and working full-time job at the same time still difficult and has a lot of challenges and disadvantages. Focusing on either school or work is the best thing can a person do. It will make this person succeed and achieve instead of ruining everything.
