You need to travel from your home to a place 40 miles (64 kilometers) away. Compare the different kinds of transportation you could use. Tell which method of travel you would choose. Give specific reasons for your choice.

Response:

Transportation is an important element of today's contemporary world and it plays a huge role in shortening the time one takes to travel to several places. There are many transportation available such as airplane, bus, car, train etc. Each one of them has their own advantageous and cost associated with them. If I need to travel from my home to place 40 miles away, then I can use many different transportation options for example, bus, metro, car, train or bike.

First of all, if I travel by bus, then it will save a lot of money. Since, buses are the most common mode of public transport available today, it is easily available. Also, there are many different types of buses available in terms of cost. For example, AC deluxe, deluxe, normal. Each different in terms of price, seating structure. So, it is not necessary to have a huge pocket to avail bus service. Further, with the advent of technology metros are built in most of the metropolitan cities and they also serve as a mode of transportation. Since, I live in New Delhi, metro service is easily available and it is also the one of the transportation option used by people. Its advantages include no pollution, nominal price, saves time. So, metro is one of transportation that I could use.

Second, train is also a cheap and common mode of public transport for long distances. However, train will not be suitable if I need to travel 40 miles as most of trains in my city don't have a stop until they covers a distance of 50 miles. So, choosing train as a travelling option will be burdensome for me and it will increase my travelling time instead of shortening it.

Moreover, apart from the various public transports, I can also choose to travel by either by my personal car or by my brother's bike. Though, it requires an effort to ride and consumes your energy, riding a vehicle yourself makes one more excited and brings in an immense sense of happiness. Travelling by car, gives me opportunity to use my music system and bring in more people in the journey. Further, if I travel by bike, it brings a rush in adrenaline and makes me feel as If I am a professional biker.

To sum up, the above discussed are all the options I can use if I need to travel to a place 40 miles away. Each of them has their own advantageous and are appropriate means to travel depending upon a person's choice.

Many people have learned a foreign language in their own country; others have learned a foreign language in the country in which it is spoken. Which is better?

Our World has varied cultures and each culture has its own language. It has become essential for a person to learn at least one foreign language as one do interacts with foreigners once in a lifetime and learning a foreign langauge adds on to a person skill-set as well. Also, I think its better that people learn foreign language in their own country. The reasons for holding that opinion are illustrated in the subsequent paragraphs.

First of all, it is not possible for everyone to visit a foreign country to learn a foreign language as it requires large amount of money and legal formalities. In the earlier periods, it was not easy to find a teacher to learn a foreign languge. But with the advent of globalization, one can easily find a teacher in their own country. For example, in Indian sub-continent there are large number of centers opened for getting trained in variety of languages like french, german etc.

Second, colleges and universities have introduced foreign language course as a part of their curriculum. Students can choose any language from the set of languages available at a university. So, it is very easy to learn a foreign in our own country. Also, highly qualified foreign language teachers are easily accessible in various schools and colleges.

Third, technology has also played a great role in reducing the separation between learning a foreign languge in our own country. A large number of foreign language courses are available online and there are various forums where people can discuss their problems on different foreign languages.

To sum up, it is better for people to learn a foreign language in their own country. It is cost effective and there is a pool of opportunities available now to accomplish the same.

A university plans to develop a new research center in your country. Some people want a center for business research. Other people want a center for research in agriculture (farming). Which of these two kinds of research centers do you recommend for your country? Use specific reasons in your recommendation

Response:

Research is an important element that helps in development of a country. It is essential that there is a significant amount of contributions in research so that new discoveries and answers to the unknown phenomena are found. If a university plans to develop a new research center in my country, I will recommend a center for research in agriculture ( farming). The reasons for the same are illustrated in the subsequent paragraphs.

First of all, in Indian sub-continent farmers face large number of problems in farming. They are not able to get appropriate pesticides as the pests have become resistant to them. Further, there is lack of efficient irrigation techniques that could help in the growth of crops. So, there is a need for research in agriculture to research the solutions for these problems. Scientists can help in the research of new pesticides or help farmers in finding a substitute that can block the growth of pests.

Second, the temperature and atmosphere vary abruptly destroying the crops either by drought or by flooding. So, farmers don't have the knowledge and availability of methods to prevent such scenarios. A research center in agriculture can assist farmers by researching new techniques and methods.

Third, there is a dearth of research centers for agriculture research in India. Majority of research is in fields such as defense, technology etc. So, farmers have to follow traditional techniques to prevent harm to their crops and use pesticides, techniques without knowing the actual impact to their lands. Moreover, a research in agriculture can help in reducing money spent by government for agriculture.

To sum up, a university should plan to develop a research center in my country for research in agriculture (farming). This research can also help farmers in using genetically modified crops that will be more beneficial for the public and will cost less in terms of raising and irrigating the crop.
