Writing Feedback / IELTS 2: CONSIDERING DISADVANTAGES OF TOURISM [6]

TOPIC: TOURISM IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY IMPORTANT AS A SOURCE OF REVENUE TO MANY COUNTRIES BIT ITS DISADVANTAGES SHOULD NOT BE OVERLOOKED. TO WHAT EXTENT DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE?

Tourism is one of the biggest industries worldwide. It has grown especially over the last few decades by leaps and bounds. This is happening because the global citizens takes even the slightest chances to visit uncharted territory. So, all countries are eager to invest more and more in tourism. It has its rich rewards, but there are drawbacks too. Hence, I strongly believe that disadvantages of tourism in ones country should not be neglected.

Developing places as a get away for tourists has been posing a problem in maintaining the beautiful sceneries of such place. Natural resources is being depleted in expense to building accommodations for the tourists. In my own country, people enjoy spending their vacations by the sea, especially if it is a white sand beach. Investors have learned that such kind of place attracts not only the locals but the foreigns as well, as a result, they start developing islands with white sand by cutting trees to pave way for establishments that will entertain visitors.

In addition, increasing rate of pollution is also a disadvantage of tourism. Service transportation and garbage wastes are being doubled as the place is being flocked by people all over the world. In my country, there was once a secluded place that was known for having an abundance of sea creatures, but because of the disturbances made by humans only few are now left.

Moreover, increasing cost of living is also a result of tourism. Local residents are the ones greatly affected by these changes. In my own country, places that has been developed as a tourist spot has increased prices for gasoline and other basic needs. Some of the locals are not happy about the increased cost of living, which they say, only adds burden their simple way of life.

In conclusion, while it is true that tourism is an important source of income to many countries, I strongly believe that it is of the same importance to consider the disadvantages when planning to develop such place for tourism.

Hi! I think it is a good thing that you have examples per paragraph, which makes your stand recognizable. However, the ideas should be more organized. In stating the conclusion, it should be short and concise like, summarizing your ideas and reaffirming your stand.

Writing Feedback / PUBLIC LIBRARIES SHOULD NOT BE MAINTAINED [NEW]

TOPIC: PUBLIC LIBRARIES SHOULD NOT BE MAINTAINED ANYMORE SINCE WE ALREADY HAVE COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY. TO WHAT EXTENT DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE?

In these modern era, no one can deny the immense capabilities of technology. Some people believe that public libraries should already be denied of its maintenance for informations that can be read on libraries can now be found ad stored on a computer. However, I strongly believe that public libraries should still be maintained for it does not only hold the writings of the wise, but it also serves as a good place for learning.

Public library is a place where you can find real treasures. It holds the thoughts and ideas of the prominent people, mainly on literature, from the past until the present that is being kept on a thing called, book. Books are considered to be the source of valid information for it is written by professional writers and has undergone legal processes before it is being publicized. It is through these public libraries where valid informations are being stored, held and read, hence it should not be destroyed neither left unmaintained.

In addition, library is a perfect place for students to study. Library setting promotes a quiet place with less distraction that is suitable for studying. In my own experience, studying at the library makes me focused more on doing my assignments compared to studying at home. There are lots of things that divert my mind when I study at home, such as TV, computer games and even food that delay me from doing what is needed to be done academically.

Moreover, the source of information that is being found at the library is accessible for everyone. People who are not well-oriented on computer may appreciate more of the availability of public libraries than computer technologies. In my own experience, I had a classmate who does not know how to browse the Internet, as a result, he consults the library for informations he needed with our homework. I cannot say he is having a hard time searching for informations because it seems like he is used to it. If it was not for the library, he will be having a hard time on searching for informations that he need.

To sum up, there are several advantages of having public libraries present in our community, and clearly technologies have various limitations. Therefore, I strongly believe that maintaining public libraries are important and cannot be outweighed by computer technologies.

P.s please help me improve my writings. I am preparing for academic IELTS exam in less than 2 weeks. Thank u for your time!

Writing Feedback / The line graph: Migration Statistics in UK [3]

The line graph compares the number of people moving into and moving out of UK, while the bar graph shows the net of international migration in UK between 1999 and 2008. It was measured in thousands.

It was clear that immigration far exceeds that of the number of emigration in the same period. In 1999, a massive number of nearly 480 thousand moved into UK, a fluctuation increase was seen until 2003, at a little over than 500 thousand immigrants recorded in UK.

Writing Feedback / Increasing fuel cost is just a band aid for solving environmental issues [3]

TOPIC: THE BEST WAY TO SOLVE THE WORLD'S ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM IS TO INCREASE THE COST OF THE FUEL. TO WHAT EXTENT DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE?

There is no denying that fuel plays a major part in environmental problems nowadays. As the world is becoming more and more industrialized, the demand for fuels greatly increased. Some people believe that the solution for environmental issues faced by the world is to increase the cost of the fuel. However, I strongly disagree with this proposed solution as the world's environmental problems are not just solely caused by fuel use.

The popularity of the fuel increased as the world evolves mainly to urbanization. Fuels are needed for transportation and some factories to run and be used effectively. However, consumers who owns automobiles and other fuel-run establishments can still afford to pay the cost of the fuel, even though it is being raised. In my own country, most of the cars seen running in the streets are owned by rich people, who do not mind the price of fuel as long as they are within their comfort.

In addition, water pollution is also one to the major environmental issues that is being faced by the world especially in a third world country. In my own country, the laws regarding proper waste disposal are not imposed effectively. There are factories and residential homes that throw their effluents directly in the river without being treated, as a result, health concern regarding water contamination is always a problem.

Deforestation is also one of the major problems faced by our modern world today. Large areas of land are being made for urbanization in most parts of the world. In my country, we have experienced cases of horrible flash floods accompanied by landslides that killed hundreds of men, which results from illegal logging. Many people are being blinded by the profit they gain from cutting trees in support of modernizing a place. Also, the lack of proper education regarding the importance tree planting and the time interval for cutting trees posed a problem in some countries, which result in unmindful destruction of the environment.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that increasing fuel cost is just a band aid for solving environmental issues. Educating people about proper care for the environment and implementing the law regarding preservation of the environment will help solve the environmental concerns.

p.s I look forward for more of your corrections and suggestions. I'm about to take academic IELTS exam in less than 2 weeks, I hope you would help me improve my writing skills. Thanks a lot.

Writing Feedback / COMPARE AND CONTRAST TECHNOLOGY NOW AND BEFORE [3]

TOPIC: TECHNOLOGY HAS CHANGED THE WAY PEOPLE LIVED. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF TECHNOLOGY TO HUMANITY? COMPARE AND CONTRAST TECHNOLOGY NOW AND BEFORE.

In this modern world, it is hard to imagine living without the aid of technology. Some people say that technology has changed the world by making ones life easier and fun. From time to time, there are new technologies invented that helps in making life easier for most people, from communication, transportation, and even to entertainment.

E-mails, cellphones, and internet are only few examples of technological improvements in communication. Back then, people were only able to send letters through mails, which we now call "snail mails", in order for them to send messages to their loved ones far away from home. In this modern era, we can now connect easily with our families and friends using cellphones and internet services by sending them messages through e-mail or SMS, which they are able to read and reply right away using these new inventions.

In addition, cars, light-railway-trains, and airplanes are some of the innovations in transportation made by technology. These modern transports allow us to travel comfortably and quickly to our destinations all over the world. In the old age, transportation were only limited to horses and ships that took them days before they arrive in their respective destinations. With these innovations on transportation, people are now able to visit different places throughout the world.

Moreover, the source of entertainment were limited to radios and poor quality movie played on theaters. Nowadays, people are able to listen to their favorite songs over and over again through their handy ipods and cellphones. Movies can now be viewed not only on theaters but also to our homes with high quality definitions, which make the scenes more real and entertaining.

To sum up, there are numerous benefits brought by technology in humanity. The incessant innovations made in technology seem to improve the lives of people in many different ways.
