Hi everyone! I'm applying for the MSc in Information Systems and Digital Business Innovation at Lancaster University, UK. Since the program doesn't specify a personal statement format, I structured mine around four main sections:

1. Personal Strengths
2. Academic & Professional Background
3. Study Plan (Program Fit)
4. Career Plan & Contribution

I'd really appreciate any feedback on whether my essay clearly aligns with the program's learning outcomes, shows my motivation convincingly, and maintains a good flow. I'm especially open to comments about clarity, realism, or tone. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and help!

Dear Sir/Madam,
My interest in digital business and innovation led me to establish Gudang Karier Indonesia, a digital talent platform that connects youth job seekers with credible micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This initiative emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, when I observed persistent barriers faced by high school and vocational graduates in Yogyakarta, revealing inadequate talent systems and digital outreach capabilities of local MSMEs. These experiences strengthened my commitment to studying digital business innovation from a global perspective and motivated me to deepen my understanding of IT strategy, digital marketing, and enterprise systems.

During my bachelor's studies in Information Engineering, I strived to upgrade my theoretical comprehension and entrepreneurship skills through academics and entrepreneurial activities. I acquired the fundamentals of application information systems, technology entrepreneurship, and cloud computing, which I applied at Gudang Karier Indonesia to design a web-based talent platform that centralizes job openings, applications, and connects with online communities on social media. I led a small pilot project involving 50 MSMEs in Yogyakarta to digitally promote their job vacancies, enabling them to reach a wider pool of potential candidates. Through this experience, I developed analytical and problem-solving skills by analysing service processes and translating them into digital solutions, which prepared me for interdisciplinary master's studies in digital transformation and service systems.

I also gained professional exposure through an international export project with a French client, where I supported IT-based workflow coordination to ensure timely delivery and effective communication. Working on both small and global business projects broadened my perspective on cross-cultural communication, project coordination, and international business practices. These experiences reinforced my belief that advanced training in enterprise systems and analytics at the master's level is crucial to me in creating IT strategies for organizations of all sizes.

Studying the MSc in Information Systems and Digital Business Innovation at Lancaster University stands out to me because of its strong academic reputation and its focus on integrating information systems with strategic digital innovation. The programme's curriculum, which integrates digital innovation, information systems, and IT strategy, aligns with my objective of contributing to the growth of an innovative digital startup in Indonesia. I am particularly interested in the Digital Marketing specialisation, as it directly relates to the practical challenges I face in developing Gudang Karier Indonesia as a growing talent platform. Beyond producing meaningful content, the platform must ensure effective reach through search visibility and sustained engagement across digital channels. Developing a stronger understanding of digital consumer behaviour and data analytics will allow me to design more targeted and evidence-based engagement strategies. Furthermore, modules related to digital business, cloud infrastructure, enterprise systems, and big data are highly relevant to addressing current limitations in scalability, system integration, and data management within the platform. I am especially drawn to the faculty's work in enterprise systems and digital innovation, as their collaboration with external organisations reflects a practical and applied approach to solving real-world digital challenges. I believe my background in business development, community engagement, and export-based collaboration aligns well with Lancaster University's commitment to impactful digital innovation, supporting my long-term goal of scaling Gudang Karier Indonesia and connecting local talent and ventures with global opportunities.

Beyond studying, I would like to join in several activities such as workshops, entrepreneurial communities, and webinars that encourage collaboration with peers and learn insight from professors within the faculty's dynamic innovation ecosystem. The international learning environment presents an opportunity for me to improve communication skills and collaborate on multidisciplinary projects. My entrepreneurial experience will enable me to add value by contributing to initiatives that reinforce the sustainability of the Indonesian workforce development.

After completing my studies at Lancaster University, I plan to pursue a short-term professional role as a Digital Project Manager in a talent or recruitment organisation such as Glints, where I can apply knowledge of marketing strategy for recruitment, enterprise integration systems, and data analytics to optimize hiring processes in large-scale environments. With this experience, I intend to return to Indonesia to further develop Gudang Karier Indonesia as a sustainable digital platform by strengthening its digital marketing strategy, data analytics capabilities, and system integration. To achieve this goal, I aim to position Gudang Karier Indonesia as an integrated platform that connects certified training, industry needs, and recruitment by establishing partnerships with companies and educational institutions. This approach will also align with the national pre-employment card programme (Kartu Prakerja) by Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower so that youth job seekers can secure appropriate employment after graduation. I am sure that Lancaster University's MSc programme will equip me with analytical, networking, and intercultural competencies necessary to achieve my academic and professional objectives.

I am confident that the MSc in Information Systems and Digital Business Innovation will provide a strong foundation for my long-term development as a digital entrepreneur. By developing my capabilities in digital business innovation and academic dedication enables me to contribute new perspectives to Lancaster University.'s dynamic and vibrant community.
