Letter of Motivation
Dear Madam or Sir,
With this letter, I would hereby like to state my motivation and submit my application for the civil engineering program in RWHT Aachen with a scholarship. This is because I believe that my experience along with my educational background and skills make me a suitable candidate for this master program. I am planning to take forward my academic career and experience with this master program.
I have graduated from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Turkey which I received a Bachelor diploma with honours with the qualification of the civil engineer. During my degree, I was very active in university life and always tried to develop my experiences. I worked at my university international relations office as a part-time student for three years. With this experience, I learned the exchange opportunities that I have. I benefited from the Erasmus+ scholarship twice, one for an internship in Spain and the second for studying for one term in Czechia. Moreover, as you can see in my CV, I took part in voluntary work too for contributing to the community and developing myself.
Having an undergraduate curriculum that mainly related to structural engineering brought me complex calculations, structure design with earthquake, foundation design etc. skills. I attend a lot of projects during university life and related to civil engineering. In addition to these courses, I intern at a construction site for two months as a compulsory internship and observe the construction process in real life. I have made one more internship in LadicimLAB in Spain. And this second international internship experienced me to work in an international group and gave me the idea of studying abroad.
After graduation, I experienced as a civil engineer at Aysa Pipeline Services Company. Aysa mostly has works related to the design of transmission lines and stations. My key responsibilities are designing the foundation and support system in the station and preparing the construction project like situation drawing, foundation detailed application, rainwater channel design etc. With this experience, I learned the design and assessment of reinforced concrete structures. Different from designing I prepare the reports and progress payments of projects too. Working in this position founded my technical knowledge in the field of construction and has significantly improved my problem solving and managing skills which are top needed skills for an engineer.
However, from my work and study in the fields of civil engineering, I realized that my knowledge is still limited in many areas. Furthermore, my motivation to participate in this program has increased dramatically after a thorough review of the curriculum, as the studies would help me gain experience and advance my knowledge in areas such as seismic design and structural analysis. Admission into this program would be a solid step towards my goal of becoming a qualified structural engineer. I am planning to specialize in structures and take forward my career.
In Addition, have been taught by world-class professors who made a name for themselves among the most influential professors in Europe. Statistic shows me that I will surely get a deep and solid knowledge of analysis and design of structures with this master's program.
With all my experience listed, I am in search of bringing my career to the next level. I believe that my experiences and educational background coupled with my enthusiasm and innovative personality make me a good candidate for this master program. I hope that I will be accepted as an applicant for the program structural engineering for structures track. And a beneficiary of the Scholarship in the 2022-2023 academic years. I understand that admission at "RWHT Aachen" with the beneficiary of scholarship is competitive, but I am also confident that I am qualified and eager, and prepared to meet all its challenges. I would be most grateful if you could give my application your most favourable consideration. Thank you very much for your time and for considering my application.
Kind regards,
Hasan Bayram
