Post study career plans Essay for Chevening Scholarship
Kindly review my essay and suggest some improvements.
Chevening is looking for individuals who have a clear post-study career plan. Please outline your immediate plans upon returning home and your longer term career goals. You may wish to consider how these relate to what the UK government is doing in your country.
Since childhood, I have been living in Karachi, which is often referred to as one of the most polluted cities in the world. Nearly half of this pollution is due to fuel emissions from vehicles. During my studies in UK, I want to focus on research in clean technology in vehicles, especially electric autonomous cars. I realized the importance of electric cars for a clean environment while working for my university's Shell Eco Marathon Battery Electric vehicle. After returning to Pakistan I plan on working with my undergrad university Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute for a couple of years and do more reaserch on developing an economic and environment friendly solution to Karachi's vehicle pollution problem. I also intend to pursue PhD in this field later on from a world class institution like National University of Singapore or MIT. After completing my PhD, I aspire to work in the R&D sector for some big automotive companies like Tesla Motors or General Motors, so that I can get some experience about how the academic research is related to industry. In the long run, I intend on returning to Pakistan and somehow implement that research and experience that I gained using help from local automotive companies and research institutions to make Karachi pollution free. My recent visit to Singapore was a major motivating factor for me. Over there I witnessed the initiatives that the government and people have been taking and how green and pollution free the whole country is. And I decided to play my part in making my city just as clean. It was very intriguing to me about how one can use technology to save the planet and the environment. One very clear example I observed was how the government has restricted vehicles on the road by building an extremely effective intercity high tech mass transport system. I want to implement something of that sorts in Karachi.
