** ( I am changing my major) .
My main educational objective is to attain master's degree in Korean language and literature and to have an in-depth knowledge about Korean culture.
While learning through various resources, materials available online and offline, courses, volunteering and internship work experience, I have learned a lot about the language and culture. But the most interesting thing that I get to know was the 'chinese influence on Korean peninsula ' To understand and learn more about this topic, I researched about it on Wikipedia, various different sites , read several articles, on Quora and gained a lot of information, learned lots of facts , theories behind the Korean language, culture, people etc. While researching especially about the language,I found that during the period of three kingdoms around 600 C.E the old Korean was started and lasted till mid 15th century. People living on the Korean peninsula started using Chinese characters to express Korean language because there was no proper form of writing used at that time. Furthermore I found that before Hangul there was other writing systems that people were using which was borrowed Chinese characters to express Korean. Through this the conclusion I have made that although the Koreans have adopted the Chinese characters but they used hanja just as phonetic and semantics symbols designed to convey sound and meaning of Korean. On further researching I learned that even though they were using hanja but they faced so many difficulties because the grammatical structure, pronunciation of both the languages has a lot of different. But after the invention of Hangul people slowly started using their own language. As we know a Language is an ongoing process. But change between old Korean and modern is might bigger than we think. Learning these facts and spending time in researching about these topic, I developed a keen interest on the history of Korean language. That's why if given an opportunity I want to continue my research and write thesis on" Evolution of Korean language" . The main goal is finding how Korean language has changed and evolved over the time. The area of study for this research is mostly in morphology, syntax, semantics and phonology. Additional knowledge that needed to study related to research area is classical Chinese characters and grammar.
