"responsibility" - What is the most important thing to you and why?
What is the most important thing to you and why?(600 words )
I am planning to write on "responsibility". im finding it hard which way to start it...i know i've to write about my life story and show why responsibility is important to me. Im thinking the starting should be in way which should arouse interest and the reader should hold onto the essay...
any info would be appreciated :)...thnx
I know it can be really tough coming up with a topic, especially once prompted by one. I would recommend getting a sheet of paper and writing down some things-
-What are some times you had to be responsible?
-What are some times you were irresponsible? (Since often we are irresponsible and then have to make a conscious choice to change behavior/etc
-How did you feel during these times?
-What images come to mind during these incidences?
-What images come to mind when you think about a responsible person?
Definitely hone in on a specific story, and even the most ordinary things can be great with engaging writing. The most important thing to do now is get as many ideas, words, and phrases down on paper.
I'm a little confused by the prompt- What is most important to you could be many different things. . are you saying it is most important to be responsible?
Good luck!
It's not good to write about an abstract concept. What if someone wrote about their laptop being most important? Or what if it was their favorite pen? Those might be more interesting, because they raise questions in the reader's mind.
But if you just write about "responsibility," the reader will know that it is just going to be a lot of preaching and philosophizing. :-)
the scholarship is Young India Fellowship much on the lines of Rhodes Scholarship... Actually the prompt is "What matters the most to you and why" .
The website states following broad ideas of what they are looking for-:
* A deep rooted ambition to make an impact and a passion for an idea or issue which could have wider social/business/academic implications
* The humility to believe that she needs to learn more and an appreciation of the limitations of her specialised undergraduate degree
* The willingness to think differently and chart a new course
* A demonstrated ability to overcome challenges
* Qualities of integrity, self-awareness, energy, initiative and open mindedness
* An above average academic record
I choose the word "responsibility" as it has been the guiding force in taking the decisions in various sphers of life..The basic reason for it as I want to see myself as the person who is responsible not only to his own life but towards the society too.India is growing economy but it has its own shares of corruption and poverty. Almost 30% of Indian population is below the international poverty line.As a doctor, I've seen people loosing their lives because of their own illiteracy and the corruption at all level possible.I feel, for the proper up-liftment of the society, individual responsibility is needed.
This is the basic theme which I want to corroborate upon..If you think responsibility might not be the correct choice, then kindly throw some light on the topic most appropriate to the theme...
sugggestions eagerly awaited :)...and thankyou for the response :)
A deep rooted ambition to make an impact
This is the one I think it most powerful. I think you can write about "responsibility" and explain that the reason it is important to you is that you want to make a real difference for people in your practice of medicine. I did not like the theme of responsibility because I thought the essay would be too vague, but I think you are going to be very specific: You will either save lives or not, depending on how diligently and responsibly you attack your studies.
That can be very good!
