I am currently applying for the above scholarship as a mature age student catergory. The scholarship specifically ask:
1. "How is my course of study will enhance my professional development"
2. "How is my course will enhance my workplace developments."
3. "Why should I be considered for the scholarship?"

So I have started with the essay and appreciated very much any feedback.

SCHOLARSHIP PROPOSAL

"It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity" Albert Einstein.
Information technologies have dramatically altered the way people do their jobs and the way everyone manages their daily routine. The growth and popularity of the Internet has created a global work environment that is fast-paced and aggressive, and which is changing where, when and how people work. It is with changes like these that also have an effect on how everyone manages in this 21st Century technological environment, and Samoa is no exception.

In working for Samoa's leading Internet services provider, Computer Services Limited, and with my thirteen years of employment experience, I have exposed myself to the most recent realities of computer and internet technology.

It is inevitable that the modern world business community can hardly survive without Information technology. I strongly believe that two processes, commerce and technology, go side by side in our modern age.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Accounting was my major subject in College. Computers were not emphasized as much at that time as they are today. For thirteen years of employment, I have never seen such a huge influence from Information Technology before than today. Its everywhere in Samoa.

With my fascination with Computer Technology, I have longed ever since to pursue a Career in Information Technology, and working for Computer Services Limited as an Internet Helpdesk Officer, it was in fact the launching pad.

The daily task is challenging, troubleshooting and handling technical customer queries is a difficult task to do when I have no training but my own basic knowledge and experiences shared by my co-workers have helped me manage.

Positively, this course not only certifies me as a qualified IT Technician, but will surely lead me to a more deep understanding of the fundamental principals and theory of computer and internet technology in addition to hands on experience that I have gained learning off from other co workers whom have no qualification but have years of experience in employment.

One of the areas that I really need further understanding that I know is vitally important to me is the setting up of Network and troubleshooting. Internet Security is one major learning objective that I really need to master to protect my country from unwanted viruses and worms that threatened the security of our people and Computer Services Limited clients.

Nevertheless, the thirst for more understanding, more knowledge and a formal education in this field of Information Technology, is the philosophical core factor in pursuing this course, and most importantly, to be recognized professionally as an IT specialist in Samoa.

WORKPLACE DEVELOPMENT

The Samoan Government has announced the liberation of the International Internet Gateway, that is currently controlled by Samoatel, in the coming July 2009. Also the Introduction of the undersea cable internet access that Computer Services Limited, have been in the forefront to see it realized in this country, and the much anticipated WiMax Fast Speed Broadband Internet have already change how other South Pacific countries view Samoa technologically. Information Technology in Samoa have already started its first revolution and will never be the same again.

Having said that, Computer Services Limited requires as many qualified technicians as possible. This course will enhanced my workplace environment by being one of the qualified technicians and will share every experience I have learnt from the course to my fellow workmates.

This is the ultimate goal. The heart and soul of mine is with Computer Services Limited, being an IT Professional will reflect the quality, competency and the credibility of CSL to its clients and competition nationwide.

WHY I SHOULD BE CONSIDERED

Computer Services Limited have been well aware of the IT challenge ahead and managed to hold on to its small numbers of IT Professionals at the moment as 7 out of 12 have left to more highly paid offers from Digicel, Government Corporations and Financial Institutions.

With the world in recession, CSL could afford to fund education for its current staff, but CSL needs all the Qualified IT Professionals it can have in order to survive.

In addition, pursuing a formal qualification was an impossible dream with the high cost of living, expensive cost of courses, traveling and daily living expenses is unbearable to budget.

Nevertheless, it never hinders my spirit to learn new things and to challenge myself beyond my limitation. I believe that the moment I stop, is the moment I will be left behind as a useless piece of wood floating on the wide blue ocean of the 21st Century Technological Advancement.

"Anyone who stops learning is getting old, anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young" Moshe Arens

(computer was not really as important as these days) . Having been employed for thirteen years with all sorts of business...

You mentioned your thirteen years of experience three times! That is a little too much, I guess. It is best to say it once, near the beginning of the essay.

Nevertheless, it never hinders my spirit to learn new things and to challenge myself beyond my limitation; as I believe that the moment I stop is the moment I will be left behind and then to better consider myself as a useless piece of wood, floating on the wide blue ocean of the twenty-first century.

Nice ending! I like it.

Up at the top, you said to me, "I really appreciated." That's a common mistake, but you are supposed to say, "I appreciate it." They sound the same!

The daily task is challenging; troubleshooting and handling technical customer queries are difficult tasks, to do and I had no training except for my own basic knowledge and experiences and those of my supportive co-workers. have helped me manag

It looks good!
