personal statement for scholarship application
I grew up in a family with two very strong people, my parents. Being a farmer's child, financial difficulties have always been a hindrance in my way. Growing up in a poor family made me mature at a very young age. My parents used to pretend to be happy all the time, but I realised the truth. Even though we were in bad shape, they educated me perfectly and taught me to live under all circumstances. I have been a hard-working student and have consistently been in the top five in my class. After clearing the engineering entrance exam with good marks, I started looking for a scholarship. I learned about GKS from my senior this August and immediately started preparing.
When I was in 6th grade, our IT teacher discussed simulation theory. It states that the world is made up of programmes. Although this turned out to be false, my perspective on the world has changed dramatically. I gained an interest in computers and algorithms. I used to be fascinated by every new gadget around me, eager to learn something new. Korea's being the global innovation hub and tech companies' holding great potential really attracted me. Asian countries are leading in technology, and Korea has the crown. Samsung, Hyundai, and LG are some of the legendary achievements. There are many startups like 5minlab, S2W, etc. In my opinion, this will rule the internet world. As I am interested in computer science, Korea will be my best choice.
I was the head girl of my school for two years, which made me impressively good at multitasking. I can grasp anything so quickly. Since I am trilingual, learning Korean will not be difficult for me. I can learn Korean in a short span of time. I have a deep attraction to sports and sketching. I was a girl who excelled not only in studies but also in other curricular activities. I have been good at mathematics since elementary school, which is the reason some parts of coding and some concepts in my chosen major are not that difficult for me. With finances in mind, I never forced my parents to take me to any paid competitions. This must be the reason I have fewer extracurricular certificates.
My little brother and sister will never need to compromise as our family's condition is improving. So I don't want to be a hurdle to their future by letting my parents pay a huge amount for university. Fortunately, South Korea is offering an incredible opportunity for needy and hardworking students. I would be really grateful if I could get selected and complete my dream by having a quality education.
