Prompt: Outline why you have selected your chosen three university courses, and explain how this relates to your previous academic or professional experience and your plans for the future.
Ever since I was a child, I have been always interested to learn English. In accordance to my high spirit in learning English, I did my undergraduate study on English Language Teaching and earned my Bachelor of Education degree. As per now, I can apply my teaching skills in real life by working on a relevant field. I also want my mastery in English to bring a good cause to the society of my country, especially to the area of my country which are still left behind. In order to achieve that, I believe taking a master's degree is the next step to be done, so I can be exposed to theories, practices, and researches later on that can enhance me to be ready in elevating the society through language teaching and learning.
I would like to become an education practitioner who focuses on TESOL and ICT. I strongly believe that merging those two can help the learners to have a better language learning experience comparing to the traditional teaching and learning. Upon this process of applying, I have found out three outstanding universities in the United Kingdom where the courses I would like to enroll are offered. They are University of Leeds, University of Warwick, and University of Brighton.
University of Leeds offers an MA course in TESOL and ICT. Upon the completion of this course, the students will discover e-learning first-hand through exposure to online learning and teaching methods, and gain practical experience of using ICT to develop learners' speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. There is also University of Warwick, which offers MA course in English Language Teaching Information & Communication Technology. The students are expected to explore the relationship between the theory of different aspects of language teaching and the practical use of learning technologies, which are both in the physical classroom and in virtual classrooms, on the students' mobile phones / tablets or in virtual worlds. Last but not least is the MA TESOL with ICT course offered by the University of Brighton. The course is designed for those who already have experience of second language teaching. The course also allows language teachers to explore in depth the role of media in the teaching and learning of languages, combining academic study with the design and development of materials.
All three universities above have an international reputation for the quality of their researches and teaching methods which can fill my current needs to reach my goal. With my determination, independence and the wanting to study hard, I believe that I will be able to successfully complete any of the three programs I have selected.
