Write a letter to your first-year roommate at Babson. Tell him or her what it will be like to live with you, why you chose Babson, and what you are looking forward to the most in college:
Dear roommate,
First of all, I would like to congratulate us on becoming a part of an exceptional community at the Babson College. As you know, university marks the beginning of a new chapter in our lives, and I am thrilled to hear that I'll be starting off the freshmen year with you! We are at the brink of entering through the door that leads us to bigger and greater opportunities, and I think Babson is the perfect place for such a start.
Let me tell you a little about myself. My name is xxxxxx, xxxxxx to family and friends. I was born and raised in Korea, where I live with my parents and an older brother, xxxxx. When I was 12, I immigrated to the US and attended the St. Norbert Junior High and Loyola Academy. After three years, I moved back to Korea where I attended and graduated from the xxxxx School.
My years abroad and at home have taught me some important values. Most importantly, it's taught me how to adapt to living with other people. I have a quick eye for analyzing situations, which I believe is an essential tool when sharing a room with another person. I am flexible with my sleep schedules and I am a huge fan of coffee! I know that college roommates can either become your best friend or worst enemy. I can guarantee you that I am going to be the former. My time away from home has taught me to be independent, respectful, punctual, and most importantly, has taught me how to make the best grilled cheese sandwich!
I am certain that you were attracted to Babson for a number of reasons. For me, Babson was the perfect place both on paper and site. I first came across Babson in the business section on one of those big college ranking books. I had always been interested in pursuing business since a child, and coming across Babson was like finding the missing puzzle piece. Babson is well-known for its extensive business curriculum and internship programs, and this is exactly what I had wanted, to be able to experience the business world before setting sail. When I visited Babson for my interview, the campus spoke out to me. It was telling me that Babson was the perfect place for me for the next four years. And today, I couldn't be happier that I am a proud student of Babson.
I have great expectations for college. Like many, I look forward to the intellectual growth and unforgettable memories. Most of all, I hope to meet a diverse group of talented peers. Babson is a diverse campus with more than 20% of its undergraduates being international students. This perfect blend will allow me to fit in and create the flawless learning environment. Through the four years in Babson, I hope to prosper as both a student and a person while taking away priceless memories and friendships.
I hope what I've said above gives you an idea of who I am. But remember, that is just the tip of the iceberg. Wait until you see the whole David! I can't wait to start my college experience, and I definitely can't wait to start it with you.
Sincerely yours,
xxxxxx.
