After visiting a few universities in Southern California, Chapman University is the only university that makes me feel like I actually am in Southern California. With palm trees situated around the walkways and cleverly designed buildings filled with bright, bubbly colors, the campus as a whole has this mysterious vibe of pulling me into its domain. The pleasant weather and the roaring of the sea are calling me to venture into the heart of Orange County, and ultimately into Chapman University.
The small class sizes is also what I pay attention to. With an average class size of twenty-three students, I will be able to receive more constructive feedback from my professors, and to also develop powerful relationships with them. My absolute worst nightmare is to be one of many undergraduates within a crowd, where the professors do not even know the names of their students.
I believe Chapman University will equip me with the necessary tools to make my college experience an enjoyable one. With many opportunities to study abroad and to participate in clubs, I hope to be a part of the strong community where I can grow and develop with those around me.
Chapman University was founded with a commitment to Four Pillars. Each Pillar represents a core value and they are a source of pride for the Chapman community. They are Intellectual, Physical, Social, and Spiritual. Pick the Pillar that means the most to you and tell us how it relates to your life. (200 words or fewer)
It is important for me to find purpose and enjoyment in what I do. I have always wanted to connect to something bigger and more complicated than my own self. That something I connect with is in the Santa Cruz Mountain Range, or simply put, nature. For the past few years, I have lost my path, met some locals, and camped under the heavens. I have heard the birds sing, listened to stories, and dreamed many dreams. All this time, I wanted to believe in something. I wanted to believe I am but one tiny speck within a bigger universe, and I am placed on this pale blue dot for a reason, so there must be a purpose why I am here. It is a scary thought, knowing I live in a complex and lonely world. But spending my weekends wandering underneath the trees has contributed to my appreciation for nature. When there is purpose in my life, I have the ability to calm the disturbances of life and to value those around me. I do not know what my purpose is yet, but I do know that it will be spiritually beautiful.
